I made it!! Very excited about #Dickenssociety2026 starting tomorrow! The final stage came to 73k, which means that I travelled 606k overall. My favourite thing about this trip right now: the first time I came to a place I hadn't been before was on day 1, 7.6k from my home. You really don't HAVE 1/2

I decided my knees needed an easy day today and researched some excellent shortcuts, only to add 24 k to my trip when I realised I'd left my bathing suit in the changing room at the beach where I camped last night. So I finished day 6 of my journey to #Dickenssociety2026 at exactly 90 k. 1/2

Day 4 of cycling to #Dickenssociety2026 ended in this lovely tent spot near Kolding (which is actually there, hooray!), after 86.66k. Only 3 days to go, which is really a shame as I'm finally starting to get into this adventurous life!

I slipped into Denmark unnoticed. Didn't even see a border sign. This is, of course, how it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, it's only the reality for melanin-deprived EU-citizens pushing their bikes up gravel roads through coastal forests.

Missed a sign and ended up taking quite the shortcut. Still, day 3 of my little researchy trip to #Dickenssociety2026 came to 96.55k, mostly because the spot I had planned to sleep didn't exist. I might be new to adventure studies, but I definitely found adventure yesterday (and it sucked)!

On day 2 of my journey to #Dickenssociety2026 I've cycled 78k. The weather finally turned in the afternoon, so I don't have to sleep in a dripping wet tent. Downside: this eliminates the only entertainment I've had on the bike--the unwinnable & occasionally disgusting game of swerving slugs.

Just leaving Eckernförde. All the exercise and air is really boosting my creativity. "Conferencing, bicycally" doesn't sound particularly adventurous once you think of "conferencing, swimmingly," "conference by kayak," etc., does it now?

Day 1 came in at 112 km. This was by far the longest stage of my trip and I'm knackered! I can already say that my "conferencing, bycically" experiment is successful, though. In the past, I've not valued conferences that are "close by" enough, mainly because they're not much of a trip I'm afraid.

63k closer to Aarhus, cycling to #Dickenssociety2026 seems increasingly insane. It's been raining a lot and all day, the crazy amount of stuff I've brought ist really slowing me down, and I'm quite certain all the cows between Hamburg and Neumünster are cutting one loose just when I pass by!
