I'm very late for this update sorry but we raised £215 together for Nermin (including my 100€ that I sent on Sept 6th) thank you so much 🫂 Here is my match and some news from Nermin. Since then she's waiting on the bank to let her access her money to get the surgery 😑 She said it was very painful :(

Framing things as only hurtful & not also harmful allows/is used to be dismissive & to say you can be hurt/disappointed/sad but anything more is "too much"/ illegitimate or even hateful The harm should be reflected on talked abt & addressed, among us & I hope, by the members too

Framing what happened as only hurtful and not also harmful is what allows a lot of people to be dismissive & to say you can be hurt/disappointed/sad but anything more (expressing it, pointing out how it participates in enabling abusers regardless of intent, trying to reach the members, pointing out how it doesn't align with the messages they so often shared etc) is "too much"/ illegitimate or even hateful.

Making it seem like it's only a personnal choice to see Namjoon and Hoseok going at that concert + hyping Chris Brown up + staying quiet until now (especially after Chris Brown insulted one of their fans) as harmful is denying facts and lived experiences of abuse survivors that abusers are emboldened by enablers. And in the case of an artist-abuser, going to his concert, meeting him, posing with him /is/ a form of support, especially because celebrity-abusers get away with it because of industry support (among other things). And in return these celebrity-abusers influence society and embolden "regular" abusers too.

This is why this discussion is multi-leveled, because there is the level of personnal reactions and emotions to it that makes us think and feel as a fan, but there is also this macro-level of longterms harmful effects that is not subjective.
I understand having different emotions, reactions and even opinions on /how/ harmful it is and what to do with all this but flat out denying that this is not only a problem of getting our feelings hurt is missing so much. And I think some are doing it because it is much easier to switch the blame and pretend no wrong was done, including with very ableist rethoric calling ARMYs speaking up or trying to reach the members parasocial, emotionally deregulated or even using mental illness as an insult.

The hurt is there for many and it should be welcomed/dealt with/witnessed with empathy (while not crossing the line of being cruel or hateful).
But the harm is there too and for everyone, whether we acknowledge it or not. (and I'm not saying it is the maximum level of harm! Like let's be very clear the one doing the most harm is Chris Brown himself, then huge enablers like Usher being his co-headliner, then people working with him, his network, then his fans etc. There are levels to it). I believe the harm should be reflected on, talked about and addressed, among us first and, I hope, by the members too.

Some updates after we sent funds last month to help her with kidney stones and her exam fees

Here are some updates:

• Nermin was able to get the medication to try to disintegrate her kidney stones. However, as I understood it wasn't enough and she still needs dialysis (100 USD)
• She ran out of pain killers and was dming me in the middle of the night because the pain was so intense she couldn't sleep (50 USD)
• Thanks to everyone, we were able to send the amount to cover Nermin's uni fees and she didn't have to drop out (which she was ready to do to prioritise her family's urgent needs). However, as it's very hard to send funds to Gaza, it took 1 week for the funds to reach her and she was denied the possibility to present 2 of her exams.

• Thankfully, her final exams are this week and now that her fees are paid she can pass them. Sending her so much strength for this week!
• Registration for her 2nd year of uni are now opened and to be able to attend classes, she needs to pay 650 USD for the whole year BEFORE JULY 25TH
• Nermin also told me they urgently need clothes as theirs are so damaged + not right for the summer heat (100 USD)
