Oh, also recommend The Expanse if you've never done that series! Probably my favorite sci-fi series, and the SyFy/Amazon adaptation is also very good.

I've really been enjoying it. It's my current read and I think Hobb is amazing at character writing. The story and world building are all good too, but the characters are where it shines for me.

Most of them are! The series has an interesting structure. The first trilogy is first person POV with Fitz, said Assassin. 2nd trilogy switches to a 3rd person ensemble cast in a different part of the world. 3rd trilogy back to Fitz. Then back to a different ensemble, then finishes with Fitz.

Doctor's Orders is such a fun episode. John Billingsly and Jolene Blalock are always fantastic in their roles and pairing them together is always a good choice, especially in this episode! All pre-Kurtzman era Trek is available for free on Pluto btw just in case anyone was wondering #StarTrek

I'm hard pressed to think of a singular book. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was a solid, singular sci-fi book. Fun characters, decent story. If you want to start a series, I highly recommend Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings. Audiobooks have mixed quality, but the books are fantastic!

Steam is technically also renting you a license to access their software until such a time they no longer support it. If your game gets removed from the platform, your .exe doesn't work without jumping through hoops to trick it. GOG, on the other hand, is DRM free

This is something I don't see brought up nearly enough! Not every game is designed to be infinitely replayable. Majority of players don't even finish their games, so one being entertaining enough to complete is actually kind of a big deal

Juliette is the primary POV. Anything we learn about the history of the Silos should be learned through her or one of the other characters. Otherwise it's taking time telling a different story. That's what spinoff shows are for

If the main characters & audience POV of the story don't know those things, we shouldn't know them. It's irrelevant to the primary story being told. It'd be like getting random flashbacks in Severance to the formation of Lumen--irrelevant to the story at hand unless the characters are learning it 🤷

I'm sure it is, but the framing vehicle of it all is not something I personally enjoy. Our POV has primarily been Juliette & some of the side characters. Imo the flashbacks should come about from the main POV(s) learning that info, not just randomly injected in season, but it's a me problem 🤷
