Here we have the Greater Reticulated Kiwi checking the lighting conditions on his selfie-side camera, not having paid attention to it being on video mode rather than simple camera.

On the one hand, reviewing a Space Marine kit feels like a pointless exercise, but it does merit a mention that the new Intercessors are actually a really, really nice kit. All their gear and holsters being integral to legs and torso parts now is a nice touch, and they assemble easily.

If ever you've wondered, the Anvil Industry Burning Rose heads should be enlarged 114% before printing to match Space Marine size perfectly.

Remembered I have a bunch of files for Mortalis-alike walls and floor panels; at 2hrs per 6" square tile print a board might take a while, but I don't want to skimp on quality. So likewise, I've gotta redo the ancient, gnarly walls here!

A very peculiar family photo: the three attempts so far at getting that classic Blanchitsu style down. I think the witch is out and away the closest yet, and though I'm still not quite nailing it, I've had fun with the occasional experiment. All of them are nothing but the Masterclass paint sets.

The Anvil Industry 'Lightning Witch' painted up using @thearmypainter.bsky.social John Blanche range (and Plate Mail Metal!). Happy enough with that, though she isn't quite what I had in mind; I should have kept my palette tighter, and leaned into the white/bone or just gone red. #jhbackdrops

Hmm. That's... not bad, I definitely like the texture. Gotta get more basecoats on and then bring them together with a couple of glazes yet, I think.

You ever have that miniature where you think, "I like it, but I don't really need it, so I'm not going to paint it." These poor 'Lightning Mages' from Anvil Industry's Daughters of the Burning Rose have fit that bill for a couple years, but... damn it, I wanna. Plus it's October! Witches! Spooky!

I find a good marker of whether or not a Speedpaint/Contrast version of something is the speed versus the result. I painted these three guys in the time it'd usually take me to paint one, and that's with thinking out which paints to use! So yeah... This one's got some wings. youtu.be/52pkXFlVkAg

I was prepared to give up a little historical accuracy to knock out these US Airborne with @thearmypainter.bsky.social Speedpaints, but after a bit of experimenting, they came out on the closer side of 'close enough.' Quite happy with that - an army would look ace. Uh-oh. #jhbackdrops

Didn't get as much built this weekend as I'd have liked, but as with any game the best place to start is with lasguns, right? The Leader in front is kitted for OPR's Firefight, while the spare will be made up once I actually have the Necromunda rules in front of me.

Quote post with something old you're proud of. This was a German Grenadier army painted in a week. There's a lot about them that isn't perfect and I probably wouldn't do it the same way now, but the 'army effect' still works in their favour and they've seen plenty of table time!

Originally believed to be a separate species, 'softshell scrungaloids' are now posited to be juveniles which have not yet biomineralized the noxious heavy metals in their poisoned atmosphere to harden their disgusting carapaces. So... Peachy Flesh primer really is just Cadian Fleshtone. Go figure.

Forget about the bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps. It's all about painting the splotches, the sweeps, and the wigglies! If ever you've been tempted to ask about painting camo, it's here. Here is how I paint practically any camo in some form or other, and it's SO easy. youtu.be/6qA6khIWeCg

Honestly, the Colour Forge stuff I've gotten my grubby little hands on of late has been top notch every time, so I'm finally throwing my hat in the ring with the metallic primers. Notoriously finicky, are metallic primers, so... I'll be dead keen to see a simple option, here, if they can deliver.

A colour test that isn't quite what I had in mind. I'm not unhappy with the result, it's just not quite what I'd planned - a suitably scrungly boi, but not the yellow I'd hoped to achieve. Ah, well. It's all learning! Scrungaloids from @opensketchbook.bsky.social at: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/...
