I'll stick to my favourites, Montaigne and Voltaire (a few others too). I like humour most of all.

'You're the French Finance Minister in charge of the nation's budget. You need to bring the deficit from 5.9% down to 3% to meet EU financial regulation. You have 5 years ('saisons') to try.' 😱 I tried one simulation and lasted 3 years. 😅 La Bataille du Budget share.google/ldCRGvv6r6TZ...

My boomer siblings grew up with that. I (Gen X) vastly preferred the Muppets and Fraggle Rock, there was more joy in those. I couldn't miss a single episode. ❤️Kermit 4ever❤️

It reads like Vidocq . He was famous for his short writing style chapter introductions (in his memoirs). Eugène-François Vidocq - Wikipedia share.google/KFd9qENIa8cc...

This upcoming Tuesday, friends had the good idea to book a restaurant (their choice this time round), whose specialty is a Canadian burger called the 'Tabarnak'. I suspect maple syrup might be involved sometime in the meal. In the meantime, I'm reminded of this tv archive. youtu.be/LgHYNcY6pLs?...

Same over here. Anyone against the government and the far right is labelled 'dangerous' on all media outlets. Only Radio Nova is resisting.

Between high school students' marches against the government being repressed in police violence and wild fires still going on North of Dijon, the 'new normal' is giving me headaches. ☹️ On the plus side, rain is expected sometime tomorrow, last one was a month ago. Yay. 🤨

Was invited for a visit of the Villa Palladienne in Syam (Jura, France). My taste for architecture and books was fully sated. ❤️

Today was a murder mystery lunch, part of the Chat Perché festival in Dole, Jura, France. Weather was sunny and hot at 28°C.

30°C is expected today in Rennes/Brittany, same as in Corsica. 😳

Louis Pasteur was born in Dole but lived in Arbois. His first work was in grape yeasts for wine fermentation. His house can be visited, his upstairs lab still has some edible soup in vacuumed phials. He was also the first to get rid of carpets in his home, to prevent sample contamination from them.

Had completely missed out on this cover of 'Song 2' by Dionysos and Louise Attaque. It's a bit noisy. youtu.be/ZoyXKjGcuDU?...

Public infrastructures are that, 'public'. If intention had to be the defining point for usage, we would be into a pre-cog, i.e. 'Minority Report' Big Brother authoritarian territory. 🤔 Wishful thinking, nothing more. Also, might be because they don't fancy cycling/chasing after them. Unfit fuzz.

If you click on their names, you get their programme. I've found the pro-Napoléon Bonaparte programme, have fun finding it! 😁👍

It has nothing to do with the required 500 mayoral votes required to be in the race. But you'll notice Mr Durif, who tallies at nearly half the total of votes. People are so fed up with everything, they're showing preference for a monarch who's a Cosmic Christ.

Electronic readers were supposed to be reading's downfall. They actually make us read more, including physical books. 🙄

Things I was frightened of as a child: Sleeping, water, the monster in a neighbouring house's basement, cycling, meals, dreams, other kids, strangers who would follow me around, the cellar and huge vertigo episodes.

So. Due to all the droughts this year, Champagne is climbing up the alcohol/proof ladder and will rate at at least 13%, grapes' sugar level being higher. At least, something is coming out of this climatic mess. 🙄

There were no orgies that I remember. Was groped once, but the lad was quickly slapped in return. He was still persistent as he wanted to accompany me back home. I had vaguely considered a flamethrower to quell his attentions, but I flatly declined instead. He left me alone after that. 👍

I'm disappointed it's not a Tata car. 🤣 Wait. Jaguar IS a Tata car these days. Or has it changed hands again? 🤔
