Breaking the heart of cisfeminism. Marginalized men, mascs, and nb people deserve feminisms that respect their vulnerability under patriarchy. I do actually have a degree in Women's Studies.

How many Internet transfeminists have actually read The Transfeminist Manifesto, do you think?

The obsession with medical transition is transmedicalism-- even the ostensibly low-barrier "everyone should get hrt over the counter" or "you're transsexual if you want it even if you can't have it" versions are transmed gatekeeping, asserting there can be no true trans people outside this context.

Yeah uh a lot of times when there's an intractable social issue there's an invisible leg stabilizing it. In this case it's that the levers of power for men are often behind a paywall socialization by sexual and physical assault. You end up with a fucked up situation where the reward for being

Let's say a transmasc person is talking about his experiences. If you're running a filter over his words that asks, 'is this good for transfems that transmascs be allowed to say this in this way' or 'what would someone listening in bad faith think this says about transfems', before you even consider that the core of what he is saying might matter, that's transandrophobia. Transmascs are not your NPCs, we do not exist as a frame for the transfem experience.

Again the most important points on his situation are: 1) he alleges abuse after trans-related surgery before marriage by both future wife and in-laws 2) he marries into this family the next year anyway 3) his own parents are notably absent from any reporting of any of this

I may direct you to "Not Gay : Sex Between Straight White Men" (Jane Ward) and its chapter on hazing's violent and humiliating homosexual aspects being a building block of white cisheteromasculinity. Cis men defend it because for many of them it's what their masculinity is made from

We can’t really divorce misogyny from the reality of its historical use to control reproductive labor of people forced to bear children— this history impacts transmisogyny in form as much as it does anti-transmasculinity. But fully expanding on it involves breaking what “misogyny” means into parts

Hey so remember when I was talking yesterday about how one's "true" gender is determined by the public deciding who is capable of doing sexual violence? This is one of those situations where making the trans man out to be the "real abuser" is "gender affirming". Do not fall for it.

What we must begin to give voice to as scientists and feminists is that there is no such thing, or place, as underneath it all. Literally, empirically, physiologically, anatomically, neurologically . . . (3/3) — Donna Haraway, Simians, Cyborgs, and Women, p. 101

Let me be blunt: any "transfeminism" that rejects the subjectivity of transmasculine people for understanding misogyny and gender-- especially if it presents the experiences of trans men and trans women as in opposition rather than in parallel-- is binary essentialist, cisnormative and transphobic.

A significant amount of popular ideas that are called “transfeminist” are cis feminism with a small crack made in it for (some) trans women. This bare bulb retrofitting allows feminism to remain cis focused and trans exclusionary by allowing access to those closest to the cisfeminist ideal victim.

Systems built to erase or punish trans folks - esp before they become adults - aren't rooted in "protecting" anyone, but in the imperative to maintain male supremacism. For men to be dominant it must be clear who & what a man is. Like all supremacist ideologies, it's evil. 6/

Misogyny is a supremacist ideology. As with all supremacist ideologies, its foundation is strict division: There are some to whom power inheres, & some who are by nature lesser-than & must be dominated. Rejection of the premise threatens the whole & requires strict policing. 2/

How come sex as embodied within subjectivity matters less than sex as embodied within biological features? How does the latter maintain the obduracy of sexual hierarchies, whereas the former introduces fluidity and revision to the patriarchal order?

Sex is a technique of imposing order and organization onto bodily life, to determine how the body bears certain social expectations, functions, and imperatives.

"Trans men have it easier than trans women because [cis] men of other marginalized groups have it easier than [cis] women" is cissexism. It assumes that, among other things, trans men are an intersection of "(ungendered) transness" and "manhood" as defined by cis men's experience with manhood,

There are systems that target men of color specifically to take away their gender or make their gender monstrous. It’s true that “misandry” isn’t real in that the patriarchy accepts it, but that’s ONLY because it assumes the man in question is cis and straight and white

Outside that default whiteness, shits dire. It doesn’t excuse men of color who replicate patriarchy but a group doesn’t need to be pure and blameless for us to recognize how white patriarchy works against them.

If you're being told that there are only two genders, that you have no rights to your body, that you're too masculine and a rape threat to women and children, that you're too feminine and a threat to masculinity, that you're a sexual deviant, etc, your social/legal status has dipped toward ours.

Many white queers don't do this, but also don't recognize that what they're experiencing isn't "they hate me specifically" nearly as much as it is "i'm starting to be treated like I'm colored". It shows how little you know about our experiences and the propaganda around our racial identities.

Some, enough to be a recognized entity in queer history, try to pull queerness -away- from that racialized identity and into whiteness in order to keep their privileges of not being treated like Black or Indigenous people (in the social/legal sense).

Queerness does not uphold the social contract of whiteness. We know this because it was culturally targeted and heavily suppressed RACIALLY. Queerness, as viewed by whiteness, dips into the racially dehumanized identity of non-whiteness. That's why they'll accept racist white gay conservatives.

There is this very, very weird strain of complete credulousness when people talk around transmasculinity that doesn't happen elsewhere. It's very much like how women can't be funny because people think their jokes must be factual mistakes. Any ability to engage just flies out the window.

There are types of transfeminism i respect, but the majority of people who call themselves transfeminists have no well-examined feminist ethics or thought about the nature of gender and sex. Just vague vibes that women are oppressed and therefore trans women must be More Oppressed.

When trans women’s frustration with transphobia manifests in saying something shitty about trans men or nb people, we are expected to give the benefit of the doubt. But if a transmasc implies visibility is a net positive bc their experiences of transphobic violence are invisible… just annoying.

The thing that is missing here is that “the media is trying to kill us” is also true of transmascs, they just refuse to actually call us by what we are, so the violence against transmascs is invisible. If you perceive your siblings saying they would like to be known as “in bad taste”
