So, What Actually is Identity?

Identity is a nebulous concept that changes over time. It is simply who you are, drawn from experiences you carry and names you are given. You can accept or reject parts of it–but in its truest form, identity is the labels you choose for yourself. Whatever your reasons may be. We live in a world that would extract everything from us and leave us with nothing, your identity is often the one thing you have true control over. When your identity goes against the norm, your life becomes a continuous battle to fight for the right to hold onto it, to those who have never had to fight for their identity, we all look like freaks.

So while no, the reason I'm trans is (for the most part) not bc I was abused, I also don't think it matters if that played a part in it bc I am clearly much happier living as a man, and I think that's the thing that matters

When I first came out I had my abuse wielded against me as a "this must be why you want to be a boy, not bc you actually are one" type of tactic--and I denied that it had any part in it but that didn't stop it from being used to harm me and devalue my identity

If I couldn't be happy as a girl/woman, who cares what the reason was? I got accused of wanting to transition bc I was abused, but...who cares? If I'm happier as a man there is no reason to unpack why I couldn't be happy as a woman, at least this way I can live a full life.

I always give a sarcastic answer to this question bc I don't like being vulnerable but uuhh... I had long thought that my "wanting to be a boy/man" was just me wanting to escape the pain I faced as a girl/young woman. I realised eventually that I should go for it anyway.

It's also worth noting that forms of violence categorized as misogynistic (SA, domestic abuse etc...) increase in rates when one transitions, trans men have a higher rate of experiencing said violence than cis women, but we are told it is not "targeted at us bc we are not women"

The ebook is cheap and I have it free to read on various archives. The print is unfortunately expensive, but that is bc it is ostensibly an artbook as well as a novel, I had it printed on thicker paper so that it will stay in better shape longer

Hi all,
Another month with setbacks and difficulties making ends meet. Our income last month was not as good as we'd hoped it would be. BG and I have also recently been pretty badly sick, so that we've both been unable to work for over a week, which means we're going to come up short for this month, too.
In addition, we've been approved for EBT, but the EBT card has been surprisingly late in arriving, leading to us also coming up somewhat short on food bills.
I'd love to raise at least $800 to make sure our rent is covered in the next couple weeks.
