It's really kind of ridiculous how "do nothing and win" has become a viable business strategy for them. And if you openly criticize them in the presence of gamers™️, they jump to the defense of the multi-billion dollar company, which is a phenomenon I've only seen elsewhere in games with Nintendo.

everything that comes out of valve convinces me more and more that while Steam is the best game platform out there for consumers, it's really quite bad for developers with how little power and information they're given when trying to put a game on steam/find ways to market it.

Autism makes us very direct about what we want, and that can come across as creepy to a lot of people, particularly if we don't have explicit consent. It's our job to ask, obtain clear consent, and take a no when it's given. And even when we do all that, some people are still gonna find us creepy.

Doing my first "Chat's Choice" stream tonight where I programmed a button that sets up a poll on Twitch to pull 5 random games from my library to vote for what we play next, and I'll be pushing it at regular intervals. I'm hoping it goes over well, I'd really like to keep this format going.

Excellent thread about how auteurship in gaming has created a branding problem for studios under mega publishers. Studios are people. People come and go. Creative pillars can keep the structure… in privately owned studios. AAA wants to milk brand ID without honoring the path that created success.
