Who own the horses and those who drive and care for them are NOT wishing or complicit in any harm to the animals, but we see this over and over and over. Some of these will show up at Mardi Gras in NOLA I bet. End rant (maybe) 😞

Those farms will close and the horses currently living out their retirement there will also be at increased risk because they are not usable. So I hope the state understands that an unfair burden is most definitely going to be placed on the rescue network like it always does. Im sure the people

And the thing that's not preventable is the slaughter pipeline...you can sell that horse to a dealer or a private person, even in good faith, and that horse can still wind up in slaughter. Usually the carriage companies have farms where the horses rest weekly or whatever, but ...

I hate this situation, it's like damned if you do damned if you don't. I wish they could stay and operate, but under the same policy and procedures as the police horses with regard to weather, hours and housing, ya know?

They always promise these animals will be cared for but unless they are held in trust or whatever, they're a private asset. When these companies go out of business and there are debts Mamdani won't be able to usurp debt collectors. That's how a lot of thoroughbreds wind up in the pipeline
