#CHRNCL Similar subsets exist in many families. Although parents, children, and grandchildren may be spread out across the country, they remain connected via their phones. Furthermore this is a very rich connection, supporting videos, photos and calendars among others.

Look, if you're tired of having a deranged lunatic running the country, then look the camera in the eye and call on people to go to Washington and demonstrate until he leaves office. We have a lot of powerful people in this country who oppose Trump, none of whom are willing to lead.

Well, houses in San Diego and LA should be cheaper now. Or weren't you paying attention to that?

We get to vote for one of the people that the political parties have presented to us. This is not the same as the people picking our leaders. And remember, there are more "independents" than there are members of both parties taken together.

#CHRNCL: Various subsets of the global communications network exist permanently. For example, Bluesky is a network of phone nodes. We call it "social media", but that is just a convenient verbal tag. Bluesky exists as a collection of individuals who are connected to each other via the Internet.

Correct and consistent. When Trump speaks his followers do not read his words in plain English. Instead, they use the special code by which they read meanings that don't exist for the rest of us. They see this as a feature.

Because, Frank, the heads of the cabinet departments are not former FBI employees. Instead, they are people chosen by DJ Trump specifically for their loyalty to DJ Trump. Competence was not a factor.

Obviously, it doesn't matter if diesel cars come down. What matters is that Donald J Trump is reported in the media as trying to bring diesel prices down.

#CHRNCL To gamble is to make a guess. Prediction markets are used by people who have access to the best data and the most effective information tools. Anyone who tries to guess in a prediction market will be wrong most of the time. Conclusion: prediction markets are not gambling.

#CHRNCL It means, for example, that a group prediction that a forest fire will burn for two more weeks suggests that the information on hand supports the prediction. Based on this the fire companies can confidently plan to be in the field for that period of time.

Oh, everyone should vote. It's stupid not to. The only way we get rid of Trump is to push him out of there – and while voting is not going to bring about much change, it does demonstrate our intent.

Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Maybe. Or maybe having 1/10 of the nation's voters show up at a demonstration was enough to convince everybody else that it was time to step up. In any case, my point is simply that after the Democrats take control of the House and Senate, there will be no substantial changes.

Hmmm. Looked up the Hungarian election online. It turns out that "tens of thousands" (the estimate was around 50K) Hungarians demonstrated in Budapest prior to the election. That sounds more like it. A couple million Americans demonstrating in Washington DC might have a similar effect.

Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
True. But we aren't voting for Trump. There's almost nothing that can happen in Congress now that can remove Trump. So this election is not going to accomplish his ouster. I mean, I would love it if it did, I would be happy to be wrong, but I don't see it.
000
Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
OK, it didn't have to happen. But it did happen. So complaining about the fact that it happened seems kind of unproductive. We need some leaders who will get out in front and start coming up with ideas about how we get Trump to resign.

Trump is America's first dictator. Trying to beat a dictator with an election is like trying to beat an egg with a toothpick. Electoral pressure doesn't work because he doesn't care. He needs to be forced out – it's the only plan we have left.

Can we build Chinese electric cars? I mean American auto manufacturers don't seem to want to, and Chinese e-car factories would surely employ a lot of workers.

Well, Jeanne, as much fun as it's been, I think the time has come for us to part. It's not that I don't enjoy your endless supply of talking points and PR blurbs, but you're taking up space in my feed, and soon you'll be a faded memory. So I'm going to unfollow. Goodbye, and good luck.

Rape is just like any other kind of physical assault. It is an attack on a resistant victim. There is no shared responsibility in the attack. All physical assaults involve shame, fear, and resentment. We are hearing those expressed today, often by people with no direct connection to the event.

#CHRNCL Prediction markets do have one very interesting positive benefit - they measure belief. If if you are willing to back your assessment with money, then you believe that you are correct. This is a more accurate way to measure what people actually think than are opinion polls.

Wow. Good for you. You're a hero. By the way, did you notice that Trump fired a bunch of military officers, increasing his control over the regular army?
000
Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Yeah, he's an idiot. Meanwhile, Hegseth took additional steps to solidify the Trump administration's control over the regular military. Possibly you didn't notice?

A. He doesn't. B. However, in Trump's mind, a very strange place, Donald J. Trump, is superior to any human being who has ever lived or ever will live. He is especially superior to former presidents. Obama got a peace prize – therefore Trump deserves a peace prize. QED.

Somehow reducing flights from DCA is going to inconvenience Congress, but be a boon to the 25 million other travelers. Not entirely sure how that works.

Trump already holds the record for being impeached. But he cannot be convicted. The system is broken.

More than anything else in his life, Donald Trump wants to be Xi Jinping - an absolute dictator, whose every word is law to a billion people. He offers Xi access to American technology because he wants Xi to respect him. And the only way he knows how to show respect is through blind obedience.

Oh, please. You're saying that if he wasn't getting bad advice, Donald Trump would be making good decisions. I think most of us would say that's an absurd idea. Even in his first term, when Donald Trump had great advice, he made stupid decisions. The problem here is Trump – remove him.
000
Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The Democrats have made a conscious decision to let Trump have his way so that they can run against him. If he does not manage to cancel the election, they will win in November. Then we will discover that they have no clue of what to do next. Sooner or later. you have to fight for your freedom.

Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The founders of our nation understood, in a way that many people today do not, that freedom is not free. Freedom is a condition that must be sought, acquired, and maintained. Those who are currently waiting impatiently for Trump to fade away are taking a dangerous risk. We could lose it all.

Trump's approach to public relations is to do things that are so unimaginably stupid that everybody has to talk about them. That's why, if you read Bluesky on any given day, you find that about 70% of all the posts deal with Trump. His goal is publicity, and he gets it.
000
Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
No US president has ever been constitutionally removed from office. When you go beyond impeachment, you go beyond the Constitution. That requires a mass movement whose purpose is to get Trump to resign. OK – I'm for it.

Solextre @solextre.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Nor is it supposed to be. Congress is the organ that expresses our democracy. The Court is not elected, and the Court's job is simply to make sure that Congress's laws stay in bounds.

So, Senator, apparently Trump's close supporters are urging him to declare martial law for the elections. Should he do that, what will your position be? (Of course, I don't expect you to have an answer at this point, but there's a cost to stringing this out the way the Democrats have been doing.)
