1Password funding Omarchy is not the same as endorsing DHH’s politics. He’s a programmer/CEO, not a political guru. Criticize his bad takes, sure. But treating every sponsor and user as morally implicated is ridiculous.

I just installed Omarchy and, for the first time in ages, I’m having fun with an OS again. Then I see: “if you run Omarchy I will judge you.” Windows = bad. Ubuntu = noob. Arch = elitist. Omarchy = moral failing. Maybe the most toxic part of desktop OSes is the communities around them.

Can any fellow solarpunk tell me if Solarpunk, the game, is worth playing or if I'll be angry that it has trademarked the name without meaningfully contributing to the movement? Asking for a brain

With their open-mindedness and love for experimentation, it’s pretty interesting to think about what Jacque Fresco and Zdzisław Beksiński would do with AI if they were still around.

Impact measurement becomes useful when it changes a decision, not just when it produces a number. If the Impact API can sit beside build checks, teams could catch waste before it reaches users. That feels more durable than another post-launch scorecard.

I guess we're quite addicted to vaporware marketing that "visionaries" like Elon Musk feed us. It's quite frustrating, as tools and services that are much more grounded in evidence don't even get half of this recognition and visibility.

Always irks me hearing america described as the 'wealthiest' country. America is not wealthy. Corporations that are rich base here for the shitty regulations and bribe the govt when they want something, from money that is stored overseas or representer by land rather than actual currency.

A kingfisher didn't design the bullet train alone. It took a kingfisher, an owl, and a penguin to solve three separate problems. We checked the sources. First in a new biomimicry fact-check series 🐦🦉🐧 thetrinitytribe.com/blog/bullet-train-kingfisher-factcheck/

The bullet train and the kingfisher: a true story we keep telling wrong
Everyone tells this story with one bird, one flash of insight, and no receipts. Here is what actually happened, checked against the sources.

“Meaningful” is the crucial word here. It is easy to count pledges, downloads and workshop attendance. The harder test is whether the places people live, work and travel make the lower-carbon option easier next Tuesday. Hope the programme shares what it learns about that.

I think there are 2 reasons: 1. This is how it'll turn out to be in some locations (greenwashing, I-spy with plants). 2. It's hard to imagine what turning dystopian cities into solarpunk ones will look like (sci-fi chrome shapes). I see it as more of a mix of bio-mimicry, upcycling, and sci-fi.

Been thinking about who actually gets to "ethically" opt out of AI. Large firms adopt it more than 3x as often as small ones (OECD). That's not a virtue gap, it's a resource gap wearing a values costume. Wrote about it for TTT: thetrinitytribe.com/blog/afford-...

Who can really afford to avoid AI in business?
The debate about whether small businesses should use AI ignores who can actually afford to opt out.

Most agencies never brief their own website, so we gave ourselves a client brief, with a carbon budget and a performance target, and built against it.

Look at this nightmare scene! These 467 sheep are tormented by eating abundant grass daily & basking in the shade on this 330 acre solar farm while they increase the soil’s organic content. In further tragedy, the #solar farm has saved $ via the sheep & avoided any use of any mechanical mowers.

From a poetry collection by Mary Oliver, where after a hundred poems showcasing gentle observations on nature and animals, she hits you with this
OF THE EMPIRE
We will be known as a culture that feared death and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity for the few and cared little for the penury of the many. We will be known as a culture that taught and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke little if at all about the quality of life for people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a commodity. And they will say that this structure was held together politically, which it was, and they will say also that our politics was no more than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of the heart, and that the heart, in those days, was small, and hard, and full of meanness.

If nature designed the internet, would it look anything like what we have now? I’m back to challenge how we build digital products—because tech should adapt to people and the planet, not the other way around. What’s one digital habit you think we need to rethink?
Adriannq with wavy brown hair stands confidently on a sunlit forest path, wearing a dark green hoodie and black cargo pants. She has a relaxed expression, with hands in her pockets, as warm sunlight highlights her face. Behind her, a black and white dog (Ori) attentively stands on the side of the path. The surrounding forest is filled with tall trees, with golden hues suggesting late afternoon or early evening.
