I'm genuinely asking because I have in the past tried using alternatives, and the audience wasn't there. Even BlueSky is questionable at times due to people being afraid to repost.

What viable alternatives even are there? Most social media platforms hate NSFW, and aren't a replacement for a gallery. The big focus right now is sticking together. I don't like that they did that to you, but payment processors and advertisers are going apeshit and we need to hold the line.

At the very least, I'm slowly coalescing everything I can into a little notes doc for myself for writing more Wayside stuff. It's been 4 years since I started and I wrote none of this down because I was that excited, so I'm being more thoughtful about the whole thing - tryin to take it seriously. x3

Literally every single commission, subscription, and donation goes to me trying to be on my own. It means so much to me, and it's why I've been trying to still improve my work after college. I'm not sure where it's taking me artisticly, though.

I've been out of college for a few months now, and finding a job has been difficult in this market. So I've poured myself into my work, to the point of it stressing me out. Now I'm trying to be more mindful of it all. I think I finally broke out of it the past couple weeks.

I didn't feel like I had the time to do stuff like that because of Sub deadlines, but like. I also set those deadlines. That's on me. >:v And couple that with my inexperience at the time, and well uh. I learned a lot! It actually came in handy in college too, lol.

I'm also super aware of how things being done in the past effected the comics, and ended up making me feel rushed through them once they were complete. So no matter what I do next, I'm taking it slow. ... O-okay like, I didn't even do panel planning! I would write out what I wanted, then go ham. :v

It feels harsher to me than just looking at an older art style of mine, because it changed mediums so much. But at the same time, I also have a different medieval setting I've been thinking about too, so I've been stuck deciding between it and another Wayside comic.

A big thing has been wanting to find a way to kinda cut things in the middle with my next comic in Wayside. Pushing people to read my oldest comics feels a bit much - I was drawing them with a mouse in Aseprite! x3

I feel like I'm in a weird point in my life, artistically. Confident, but MAN do I feel self-conscious about my older work. I wouldn't get rid of it because it shows how much I've progressed (about 6 years on my FA!), but it does mess with me a bit.

It used to be like this for Twitter, Reddit, etc too (and it IS like this for Mastodon). API costs drove out third-party clients, and it really compounded the issues for those platforms - so use 'em here while you can, the goal usuallt is to at least TRY to be a little better in some way.

This is my time to tell y'all that you can use other BlueSky clients. I just use one bookmarked in my phone's browser. I'm bringing it up because the ongoing site issues are nonexistent on my end, and some clients have stuff y'all want like grid view for other folk's media.
