I've seen a lot of programmers really disrespect themselves thinking that genAI is "fine" when it comes to coding or w/e because it's not "art" Programming is an art. It requires creativity. And you're literally programming graphics, it's visual art. It's just art. It counts. AI coding is AI "art"

Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.

The image is a six panel black and white comic.

Panel 1 - a girl sits at her desk in front of a computer, looking disheartened. She says, "I dont know if I should post this art, who would even want to see it?"

Panel 2- A new person bursts through the door in the background with a loud BAM

Panel 3- The new person pushes the girl out of the way, smushing her face in the process, while slamming their fist down on the keyboard.

Panel 4- The computer shows that the art has been posted

Panel 5- The person makes direct eye contact with the girl while pushing their finger against their own phone screen

Panel 6- A motion blur is added to the last panel, enhancing the impact of the new notifications on the new post. It reads, "(Friend) Liked Post just now" Followed by "(Friend) commented 'I FUCKING LOVE THIS AND I LOVE U'"

Underneath the last panel is a watermark that reads, Shubbabang

"Lord of the Divine Writing" A digital piece featuring Thoth, the Egyptian God of writing, wisdom, magic, the moon, and many other things. :> I'm super excited and happy about how this turned out. I'm feeling more and more comfortable with my digital art style. #art #digitalart #egyptiangod #thoth

A digitally painted illustration featuring the Egyptian God, Thoth. He's depicted in his ibis-headed form with stylized shapes. The whole images is richly covered in patterns and hieroglyphs.

Lately a lot of AI "discourse" has been going around in the Pokemon romhacking community. For a bit, things seemed to be on the right track, but it was instantly backpedaled which really disappointed me. Anyways Too Many Productions has never, and will never use AI for our projects. I hate AI.

This stuff just has me feeling real sad. It's inevitable that there will be people who use AI in their ROMhacks and lie about it. That's a risk that will just exist. But it's so disappointing seeing highly respected devs just shrug their shoulders or outright embrace genAI.

020

Snowy Zorua @snowyzorua.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I want you all to understand that no AI use is acceptable to me in Pokemon ROMhacking. These companies and the datacenters they entail are catastrophic to our environment and our economy. I will not knowingly stream any ROMhack or fangame that is made with AI. I do not care if it was mere assistance

120

Snowy Zorua @snowyzorua.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Furthermore, it's come to my attention that Pokemon Heart & Soul which is a ROMhack I was really excited for not only is using emerald expansion but also: AI for Code reviews, debugging, "Auto Completion (stuff like repeating lists, DebugPrints, etc.)" and

120

Snowy Zorua @snowyzorua.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

There is additional bad news in that it's come to light that emerald expansion which is used in many Pokemon ROMhacks today has been tainted by AI as well. The team behind it refuses to take a "No AI at all" stance and so I will not be playing or streaming any new hacks that use it.

170

Snowy Zorua @snowyzorua.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Terrible news in the Pokemon ROMhacking scene. The dev for Pokemon Unbound (skeli789) made a big post about being very pro-AI to point of "I dream of the day it gets it right to my standards in one shot every time". With that in mind, plans to stream Pokemon Unbound are now cancelled.

Something that's been on my mind is are chore simulators really games? You can't really win or lose them, right? There's no game over state. It's not any kind of competition. There's no end. It's just simulated chores forever. I don't understand the appeal

Okay a tiny thread because people are going to freak out: This exploit in particular takes advantage of a special command that renders images (via attribute escape). If you have an overlay that processes images (most don't) then yes, this is your problem. Overlay must explicitly create img DOM.

A picture of the exploit, using a command that explicitly includes an image file extension, but also would escape out of the src attribute of an image such than an onerror attribute can be added to the img tag. This onerror attribute can run explicit javascript immediately.

Default behavior for most chat widgets is if you have an image it will not attempt to modify image links into actual HTML image tags. Your overlay/overlay service must explicitly be doing this for you.

Having finished Mina the Hollower and looking around I'm surprised to see that people find the game very difficult, apparently. I'm quite bad at platforming so I tended to die in exploration sections with a lot of it, but most bosses only killed me once if at all. Final boss...4 times? I wonder
