I mean, it's 2026, I could type "seagull call" into my phone and hear a seagull any time I like. But hearing a real one out of nowhere like that still feels kind of magical.

just heard a seagull outside my window. I live a good hundred miles or so inland. Must be a storm at sea

I think about this post, like, a lot. when I make jam or mend my clothes, or when I pick blackberries in the autumn with my kid and try not to get scratched up in the process, but I think most of all I think about it when I play the drums? Like that is one of […] [Original post on blorbo.social]

a tumblr post by leo-fie reading: We all know existential dread, but I propose (and please tell me if this is already a thing) existential awe.

Sometimes when I handsew or weave or something I get this immense feeling of connection to humanity. People for thousands of years all over the world have sat down and sewn a garment. Archeologists find needles and awls all the time. When I’m tablet weaving I have the same frustration at the arduous process of threading the tablets as the person 2600 years ago must have felt when they made the bands that were found in a celtic man’s burial mount not far from my home. They probably also felt their back after a few hours of this.

Is anyone still into the Locked Tomb on here? anyway I drew Judith and Coronabeth #SnekArt #TheLockedTomb

a black and white digital drawing of Judith Deuteros, a young Black woman with long braided hair and a sad/neutral expression

A digital drawing of Coronabeth Tridentarius, a young light skinned woman with lots of thick curly hair. It's all coloured in shades of yellow and gold except her eyes, which are a light violet/blue.

something I would really like is if we all, as a society, from every single point on the political spectrum, just acknowledged and accepted the fact that within literally every group of people there will be some people who are fucking terrible and it has little to nothing to do with any aspect […]

(I am playing games *with* the 8yo, this is not a "damn kids existing while I'm trying to ignore them and play my game" rant, we're having a lot of fun with Geometry Dash. I do suck at it though)

I think all videogames should have an additional difficulty setting in which an 8 year old talks to you loudly and constantly 6 inches from your ear in an unbroken stream of consciousness while you play

Anyway, so I have about 50 tabs open about it right now and I have fallen down the cube rabbit hole a bit and I am kind of delighted to discover the existence of Rubik's cube memes. I absolutely bet people do this shit.

The meme of Batman slapping someone. The person being slapped is holding a Rubik's cube and saying "I solved it once by just randomly turning it," and Batman is saying "You liar!"

My kid got a Rubik's mirror cube and immediately mixed it up and now wants it solved, so I'm trying to learn how to solve it, and I am going lightly insane because apparently first you have to learn how to solve a regular cube and then you have to take that […] [Original post on blorbo.social]

A cube sort of like a Rubik's cube but instead of different colours it's all silver, and the blocks are uneven sizes, the bottom layer much thicker than the top. When you mix the cube up it no longer looks like a cube but like lots of differently shaped and sized rectangles jumbled together. The picture shows one cube in its solved form and one mixed up. Sorry if this is a confusing description, I don't really know how to explain them.

I'm trying to write an actual original story thing for the first time in... a long time, and I'm discovering that I'm a lot better at worldbuilding than writing actual plot. Or at least I'm a lot more *interested* in worldbuilding, I guess. I don't really know how *good* it is, I just know my […]

I drew some Asymmetric People from #AllTomorrows. The alien kid has a pet tentacle thing I guess? #SnekArt

A digital drawing of two Asymmetric People from All Tomorrows. They're strange alien creatures who are very distant descendants of genetically modified humans. They have one long, narrow forelimb on the right and one that's just four stubby fingers on the left. and eight legs evolved from fingers. They have diamond shaped faces with sideways mouths and noses and weirdly arranged eyes and ears. They're just pretty weird looking, okay. The picture shows an adult one seen from behind, looking at his child who is holding a pet tentacley creature thing and smiling with her sideways mouth. They're both wearing drapey dress things and the adult has a decorative headscarf attached to his top ear. Sorry for writing a novel, they're hard to describe.

Chikorita may have been a little ambitious for my current skill level but hey if you never try you never learn, right #NeedleFelting

A little needle-felted chikorita (a small green pokemon with a leaf on its head), about 2 inches long. The eyes are a bit wonky and the mouth a bit wobbly but I'd like to think it's still cute

Little whale print which I'm calling finished, so one page of this book is done. This is a zinc plate etching, with hard ground, aquatint, lots of stop out and white ground. #printmaking

two little blob-shaped cats I made by needle felting. one is black with orange eyes and one is orange with green eyes. they're basically just spheres with ears and tails
