He wrote “The Hunting of the Snark” after the Alice books. That was 150 years ago. But most Snark readers still don’t get his and Henry Holiday’s jokes.

➔ bsky.app/profile/goet...

The second part of your quote is by Lewis Carroll. By paraphrasing Carroll, you're getting closer than those who quote George Harrison.

My mother's cat doesn't have an eartip either. Seemingly he tries to hide it. I don't think he knows why the vet cut it off.

The rules for ZZOTA's "SNARK!" seem to be quite challenging. And I am very slow in generating virtual playing cards from my scans of the original cards. Nevertheless, if you can imagine playing the game (snrk.de/the-snark-ru...) for 2 to 4 players on a virtual desktop, please follow @snark.games.

That quote is by George Harrison. But you are close, it‘s probably inspired by Lewis Carroll.

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." The #Quote is by George Harrison from "Any Road" (www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/georg...). The line is not by Lewis Carroll, but it's quite probably inspired by Carroll. Carroll's text: (snrk.de/Gutenberg/Al...).
‘Cheshire Puss,’ she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. ‘Come, it’s pleased so far,’ thought Alice, and she went on. ‘Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’

‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.

‘I don’t much care where—’ said Alice.

‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the Cat.

‘—so long as I get somewhere,’ Alice added as an explanation.

‘Oh, you’re sure to do that,’ said the Cat, ‘if you only walk long enough.’

The Cat only grinned when it saw Alice. It looked good-natured, she thought: still it had very long claws and a great many teeth, so she felt that it ought to be treated with respect.

According to JJ Secker, you should have read "The Hunting of the Snark" before you play the SNARK! game (once it will be available). But you also could listen to the BBC 4 Extra radio drama.

👍The original in Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark".

The Bellman's map in Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark" (1876). I think that a typesetter commissioned by Dodgson/Carroll made that typographical illustration. It's not made by Henry Holiday.
