At the Guthrie tonight, my wife and I took a picture of Gold Medal Park through the yellow glass of the Dowling Studio, and then competed to see who could take out the most yellow using the iPhone’s edit tools. Here is my attempt. Still too much yellow.

Shoot, it was a woodchuck, not a beaver. My wife got a pretty good shot, and zooming in helps identify it. Probably makes more sense. This little dude was hanging out right across the mill canal.

They are about 1/3 of the way done on the south side of the bridge in what is turning out to be a much longer project than I thought it would be. They haven't even started on the north side. The little blunt, pointy things at the top of the fence are ... unexpected.

I really appreciate how the Minnesota-shaped gate handles at Target Field were designed to include the Northwest Angle and the west-central bump.

I know the U says they don't have an "official" tagline, I but I kind of dig "Try Everything. Be Anything." What is amazing about the U is the scale and scope of majors that students have to choose from. Unlike states such as Iowa which splits programs between UIowa and ISU, the U truly has it all.

🚨Today is the 10th anniversary of the Mississippi River Water Jug! On 8/17/16 this jug of river water was placed on a shelf in the UMN Walter Library loading dock. Who put it there? Who knows! Why did they put it there? Also a mystery! But here it has sat for 10 years. An amazing achievement.

Prophecy of the Ancients at Gold Medal Park in Minneapolis. It is described by the Mill City Times as "A futuristic dome, composed of thousands of flexible wire polyhedrons, rests atop six mock-Egyptian columns in a blend of ancient and modern architectural styles. Embedded within the structure and seeming to hover in space are an assortment of common objects and abstract forms: a table, a ladder, a chair, a turtle (whose patterned shell recalls the gridded structure of the dome), random letters, numbers, discs, and dashes."

"Ordovician Pore" or what I call "Poop coming out of a pipe." It features two cylinders, one of which has what looks like a giant turd coming out of it.
