I wish journals would develop a way to file complaints about suspected AI reviews. You know when the reviewer says, "the AU argues X, and that's false because P.." but you actually and explicitly say, "I won't be arguing for X in this paper.." #philtech #philsky

Just saw a clip with @carissaveliz.bsky.social pushing back on “technology is neutral.” She gives a coherent & intelligent explanation, .. & her interlocutor “nuanced response” (his words) was basically that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” In more words and a knife. #philtech

Although this was strongly written from the #philsci perspective, I hope it’ll be useful for #philtech, #sts, or #philsky in general. The ubiquity of simulations in natural/social science, medicine, policy/politics, should make them of at least some interest to anyone doing 21st century philosophy.

Exactly!! That tells me that they are thinking about it as a possible prompt for LLMs. On the other hand, during my less pessimistic days I wonder if the lexicon is evolving because of all the LLMs and AI talk these days.

I assigned one paper and one exam this semester. The students I suspected were using LLMs for short writing assignments were extremely curious and pushy about getting a rubric. Or whether they will get a prompt for the paper assignment. Almost every student panicked b4 the exam week.

The paradox of providing students with precise rubrics for writing assignments like a traditional paper is that the rubric becomes a perfect prompt for LLMs. But if you don't give a detailed rubric, they can claim they weren't sure what to do or not do. #philtech #philsky
