All painted bike lanes are car infrastructure. The engineers have checked a box, while still allowing at-will, unimpeded movement by motorists in the heart of a major city. This design only serves those who are comfortable being uncomfortable.

Of all the mail that was infecting my inbox, nothing was worse than those from Josh Shapiro. I keep an eye on my Spam folder to catch incorrectly classified email. I'd guess I'm still getting 10-12 such emails from his campaign every single day. Not a great look, @governor.pa.gov.

@governor.pa.gov I know reaching potential donors is important, but I was getting so much spam, and "unsubscribing" often didn't work, so I gave up and simply started marking all money requests as spam.

I can adjust the regen level on my 2023 Hyundai Ioniq5. Apparently Lola's boyfriend can't. The article also mentions acceleration. If it's not (just) the regen, maybe her boyfriend is simply too enamored with his car's acceleration and needs to restrain his impulses when Lola's in the car.

My lovely wife garbage picked an old Burley trailer about ten years ago. It's never carried a kiddo (mine were way too old at that point), but I have carried all sorts of stuff with it. I trust a cargo bike would be even better at that.
My old red Schwinn Speedster leaning against the city's compost heap. There's a Burley trailer attached which is filled with bags full of that compost.

It's October, the best time of year to get your flu shot in the northern hemisphere. Enough time to build immunity before most holiday gatherings, and late enough that immunity lasts through the cold season!

I've not heard of this before. It would be nice where I live. Keep the cars out of the neighborhood for a couple hours so the kiddos can have a safer trick or treat experience.

I envy today's bike parents. When my kids were small enough, we had a bike trailer. Good enough, but not nearly as nice as today's cargo bikes.

Nice on my patio too...
Photo taken on my patio, chairs scattered around in the foreground. In the middle, a flower garden with some plants still blooming and a raised bed with the last gasp of tomatoes we hope might still ripen. It's all backed by a fence with an open gate in the back left and the garage photo bombing from the back right. The neighbors' new ADU hovers above it all in the way back.

we could solve the western water crisis overnight by simply charging alfalfa farmers market rates for water
Across the basin, alfalfa hay uses more than 5 million acre-feet of Colorado River water — that's 26% of all the water consumed in the basin. One acre-foot roughly equals the annual water use of two or three households.
In the Upper Basin, irrigated agriculture consumes 2.8 million acre-feet, or nearly half the water used by Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, the environment, reservoirs and water exports out of the basin. Cattle-feed crops, like alfalfa, consume 90% of all water used by Upper Basin agriculture.
That means alfalfa uses more water than cities, commercial users and industries across the entire basin:
Collectively, these users consume about 3.5 million acre-feet, or 18%, of the river's water. The Colorado River
