I imagine this is about as “butch” as the average straight person is accustomed to / comfortable with (don’t lie) (I’ve seen how a Certain Type of Cishet Man reacts to women in messy buns, sweatpants and with no makeup on)
A pair of screencaps from The Good Place. It shows Tahani Al-Jamil, a feminine Indian woman with long wavy hair, smiling at the viewer and saying that she was “SUCH a tomboy growing up. See?”

She then gestures to a photo of her posing in a floral sun dress and wide-brimmed straw hat while holding up a basketball.

it’s petty, but this image remains both 100% accurate and evergreen
A meme with the text “talking about gender with trans people vs. talking about gender with cis people.”

On the left is an illustration of Ancient Greek philosophers Socrates and Plato conversing with each other. On the right is a photo of a feminine person in a blue and red shirt and green pants, holding a rattling toy in front of a chubby, red-headed toddler.

“in OPM, the manga that Sensei draws, protagonist Saitama gets angry and lashes out furiously when called ‘baldy’ and ‘Caped Cueball.’ nonsensical profiling based on others’ looks is harmful, as it leads to mockery, bullying, and discrimination that leaves deep scars on other people.” — @/GABUnoMAGO
Another Japanese tweet, this time from user @GABUnoMAGO. It reads, “in One-Punch Man, the manga that Sensei draws, protagonist Saitama gets angry and lashes out furiously when called ‘baldy’ and ‘Caped Cueball.’ nonsensical profiling based on others’ looks is harmful, since it leads to mockery, bullying, and discrimination that leaves deep scars on other people.”

from Tokyo-based communist activist Masayuki Nabekura: “as part of the movement called Rotetsu, we hold daily anti-discrimination protest rallies at the southeast exit of Shinjuku. someone angry about Murata-sensei’s post dropped by and left behind this piece of paper”
Another Japanese post, this time from communist activist Masayuki Nabekura. It reads, “as part of the movement called Rotetsu, we hold daily anti-discrimination protest rallies at the southeast exit of Shinjuku. someone angry about Murata-sensei’s post dropped by and left behind this piece of paper.”

The paper is a print-out of Murata’s racist tweet. At the top and bottom, “Murata-sensei, take this back!!” is written with black marker in both Japanese and English.

“you just typed whatever popped into your head without thinking about it, didn’t you? though posting it with your work account sure is a real screw-up. that’s more than just mere recklessness.” —@/popopon567

“your comment has me wondering, ‘is Sensei the type of person who’d poke and laugh at another person’s physical appearance, despite drawing a superhero manga?’” — @/soria_0223
Another screenshotted reply to Murata’s racist comment, this time by user @soria_0223. It reads, “your comment has me wondering, ‘is Sensei the type of person who’d poke and laugh at another person’s physical appearance, despite drawing a superhero manga?’”

this former fan’s comment really resonated with me as someone who was a longtime fan of Murata’s (first as an OPM fan, but then far more as an ES21 fan)
"I really loved Yuusuke Murata. when I met him at Comiket 2013, | cried, telling him that I was a fan and was rooting for him. but I grew increasingly disillusioned after that [2022] election. he spewed that statement and | learned that his thoughts towards society were that of a shallow-minded, immature adult.

his drawings are as amazing as ever, but l've come to feel that I don't like him anymore. it's so sad and embarrassing that he's become an internationally renowned Japanese artist."

“I totally get that discussing politics IRL can potentially create an awkward atmosphere, so it’s safer to avoid speaking bluntly about it. But saying stuff like ‘stop talking about politics’ is too poor of a resolution to celebrities spewing bigoted remarks online for the whole world to see.”

“all of the folks saying ‘manga artists don’t make political statements’ are huge idiots. in Yuusuke Murata’s case, shouldn’t that be ‘don’t make discriminatory remarks in the first place, whether you’re a manga artist or not’?“ — @/tajima_sksm_3 (continued to next skeet)

“it sure is scary how overly oblivious Murata is to the way damage spills over onto the original creators whenever [the reputation of] his works takes a hit” — @/ex_Lhasa
