Default on has _always_ been the pattern, except during testing phases. Most users never look in or touch the settings and so if it was default off then 90% of new features would never get turned on. (remote control, like this, being the rare exception. not sure why it’s on by default.)

speaking as someone who has used celsius for everything for years, i still personally think fahrenheit is more usable. not just because 0 is really fucking cold and 100 is really fucking hot, but any system that requires half degrees for granularity on my house thermostats is annoying.

There *are* some nice ones — I fly out of MSP and it’s exceptionally good, very bright and clean and filled with local restaurants. But each airport has a different governing authority and funding sources and so most of them are not super well run.

Recently interviewed at a place that, once I got to the offer stage and looked through their benefits, saw that they didn’t cover gender-affirming medical procedures. Guess they didn’t have enough employees so it was too expensive or something, but employer-offered healthcare is not your friend.
