Our new chickens are still trying to settle in with the rest of the flock. One of the girls ended up hanging out on my shoulder for a few minutes, which was super sweet. The community gains access to name these three hens on Friday during the chicken sub-a-thon!

The amount of people I see in chicken groups that have no emotional attachment to their chickens & view them as “ just livestock” is honestly wild to me. How can you care for/have interaction with an animal every day & not grow to love it? I guess I have too much love n my heart bc I could never.

This is Summer. She WILL NOT let you pick her up and she keeps her distance from nearly everyone except for me. She’ll sit beside me and hang out near me, but if I go to try to pick her up, it’s over. 🤣 Some chickens just don’t like to be handled, and that’s okay. #chickens
