The Mystery Science Theater 3000 x Project Hail Mary crossover would go crazy. It's the same basic idea of "man shot into space." But MST3K's response to the science is "Just repeat to yourself 'it's just a show, I should really just relax.'" Meanwhile PHM goes into exact detail with the science.

Reminds me of a mission in COD Black Ops II where the protagonists infiltrate a resort city for the rich. First thing they see are ads that personalize themselves by inserting the protags faces into them. It’s meant to signal to the audience that technology has gotten creepy. This was in 2012 BTW.

It's not even that, Ian Flynn loves referencing music in his works. Dr. Light's speech to Rock in Issue 3 is almost word for word the chorus of "The Message from Dr. Light" by The Megas.
