The government moving or hiding jailed people to avoid review by courts isn't some loophole in our habeas corpus rights. This government behavior has been considered a violation of the people's habeas corpus rights since at least the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_...

Jailors were forbidden to move prisoners from one prison to another or out of the country to evade the writ. In case of disobedience jailers would be punished with severe fines which had to be paid to the prisoner.[5][6]

One more datapoint suggesting life in Maine has gotten better over the last 8 years - the supplemental poverty measure. #mepolitics In 2015-17 (the last 3 years of LePage), 138,000 Mainers (10.4%) were in poverty In 2023-25, it was just 90,000 (6.4%). Maine's rate was the lowest of any state.

Measles case in Maine. Incredibly the Federal wastewater contract with Verily lab w/ measles ended on September 14th. The RFP just put out. State lab just started wastewater testing but doesn't include measles. This is exactly the time that having wastewater testing in place would be important.

A majority of Mainers say Susan Collins votes with Donald Trump too often. That’s because when the stakes are highest, she keeps helping him deliver an agenda that makes life harder for working people. Maine deserves a senator who will fight for us instead.

Re: the USS Abraham Lincoln, it’s not just that that crew has been “deployed” for a ridiculously long amount of time, it’s that they haven’t been allowed any port visits, which normally are part of a naval deployment. They haven’t been off the ship in months. All the Navy folks I know are horrified.
