New Pokemon Emerald ROM hack presents the Hoenn region from an entirely new perspective
At this point you're probably thinking you've seen everything Hoenn could possibly have to offer. You've seen bigger routes, smaller routes, Game Boy Color graphics, difficulty hacks, projects that bring in the entire modern Pokedex. But in all that time one thing has remained constant: the region's orientation. Well dear reader, no longer I say. No longer will you be bound to the closed-minded ways of the horizontal region. We're coming back to Pokemon Emerald from an entirely new perspective.
And that perspective is a 90 degree rotation. No, really, that's it. Pokemon Emerald Rotate rotates the entire map by 90 degrees. If you feel like replaying Pokemon Emerald any time soon and want the entire region to feel very familiar but weirdly disjointed, this is the hack for you. Very little else has changed; a few previously unobtainable Pokemon are now available as rare encounters, but this really is one that does what it says on the tin.
If you're interested in trying it for yourself, the hack is available to download via HackDex, with the site handling the ROM patching itself provided you're happy to pop in your own legitimate copy of the game. I just thought this one was really funny.
