It's called accountability you nonce.
BBC news headline. Failed car salesman Nige 'the take' Farage bleats to a reporter about how being expected to account for a £5m 'personal gift' from a convicted criminal is a sign of a complainants society where people make accusations that are then investigated by the law. How bothersome.

Favourite picture of #Hadrian's Wall back from the short period in June 2021 inbetween #lockdowns. We walked the wall in a week and it felt amazing being in such a wide open space. The weather was perfect and we connected with our #history. #photography #northumbria #romans #archeology

Revisiting this great documentary about a unique community that used to exist at #Greatham Creek, a salt marsh near #Hartlepool in the #Tees Valley. Produced by a colleague from Teesside University, Warren Harrison. #history #documentary #communities #oralhistory www.yfanefa.com/record/67544...
Filmmaker Warren Harrison captures the memories and experiences of people who grew up as part of a unique community at Greatham Creek, a salt-marsh near Hartlepool in the Tees Valley. One of those who’s memories are recorded is photographer Ian Macdonald whose haunting images of the creek are used in the film along with family photographs, archive film provided by the North East Film Archive and contemporary footage.

In the early 20th century, salmon fishermen built a small community of huts, cabins and boathouses along the banks of Greatham Creek, part of an intertidal salt marsh in Teesside, in the North East of England. By the early 1980’s, the site had been abandoned.

Last week Middlesbrough lost a vital part of the support network for some of the most disadvantaged members of the community after 30 years! The place was usually packed and buzzing with activities and people, it's hard to understand how this could happen. #middlesbrough #poverty #charity
The Hope Foundation Middlesbrough announces its closure via a picture after 30 years of supporting the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the local community.

The Hope Foundation was a Christian charity working with and as part of the community developing services to support residents to participate more fully in social, economic and community life.

IMO the best chipper in #ireland is the Little Saltee Chipper at #kilmore quay #LochGarman Fresh #fish in light batter straight from the fishing boats. In this case, plaice. It's great to be back in my spiritual home again.
Lightly battered plaice fillets with lemon and chips from the Little Saltee Chipper, Kilmore Quay, Loch Garman. An understated and well-lit building faces the harbour of Kilmore Quay in Loch Garman, Ireland. Inside, possibly the best chipper on the mainland.

St Andrew's Church, Sadberge is on my morning dog walk. It's on the site of a Saxon castle, once the centre of Saxon administration between the Tees and the Tyne - the "Manor and Wapentake of Sadberge". #durham #sadberge #history #localhistory #saxons #britain
A picture of St Andrew's Church, Sadberge,County Durham. Partially obscured but autumnal trees, graves and memorials in the foreground. Seven AM on an overcast November morning, it perfectly encapsulates the greyness and washed out feeling of this time of year.

Took my son to the NFL London game yesterday at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Don't really understand the game, tbh. But he was totally made up as it's unlikely we'll get into the US to see a game before it breaks apart and I learned what the phrase 3rd and 17 means. #nfl #broncos #jets

Looking forward to seeing this crossing the River Skerne in Darlington in celebration of 200 years since the birth of the railways. A group of visionary business men caught sight of the future of transport and went with it, despite opposition from the ruling classes. #teesvalley #railways

Plus this....coming soon to Europe once again thanks to weak and cowardly world leaders (I use that term loosely in reference to the USA).
'Peace' declares a headline from the Daily Express in 1938, celebrating the greatest act of appeasement of the 20th Century, allowing Hitler to solve the 'Czecho-Slovakia problem'. Peace guaranteed for decades cries the Express, less than a year before a world war (into which the US came late to the party and the Russians had a hand in starting, too). Coming soon, once again a result of a weak and divided America.

Some people fought against fascism whilst the world appeased and looked the other way in the 1930s. Feels a bit like that today to be honest.
