Luna's hot glue was the easiest to remove for a while! I gave her Chloe's eyes, and her signature look of superiority™ has greatly increased. I also wrote about her arrival here: small-time-hijinks.com/blog/2026/08...

Portrait photo of a female ball-jointed doll (Volks Luna) with an exceptionally superior expression. She wears a pale pink wig and a frilly, lacy blouse, and has grey-green eyes.

I know it's an obvious thing to complain about, but Instagram is now unusable for me. Tags don't show the actual tagged posts, and there's now an ad (usually a video) between every 1 or 2 posts. It was never great, but it's definitely worse, especially the ads. I just want to look at doll photos...

I know what you mean about longevity, but what I do like about Astro is that you can keep your data portable and switch out later. Astro was also acquired by Cloudflare which at least means it has funding behind it. And I think the Astro team has a really good approach to performance.

It's been really hot and humid here lately, so I'm happy to look back at this photo from a few weeks ago where Chloe looks crisp and cool. small-time-hijinks.com/blog/2026/06...

I went to Japan almost 20 years ago and it was wonderful (especially Tenshi no Sato), but I wished so much I could download Japanese into my brain and be able to talk properly with other doll collectors and people at the Volks stores. Maybe it's easier now with translation apps on smartphones?

The LA Dolpa Tae is too gorgeous, and the one-off dolls look so good with the Art Deco theme. Fingers crossed that American friends get lucky in the lottery! And I hope that one day we might get a European Dolpa, or that I can go to a Dolpa in Japan. volksusa.com/event/2026do...

Yesterday I removed the hot glue from three dolls, including Chloe. (All operations were a success.) Her default eyes are really nice, but I think this light purple pair is a nice contrast with her hair and colouring. #sd_クロエ

Happy new year! These are the dolls I bought in 2025: 4 small cuties and 1 very long boy, or 2 big-eyed babes and 2 grumps. I wrote a retrospective of 2025 and a bit about my plans for 2026 on my blog, if that's interesting to anyone: small-time-hijinks.com/blog/2026/01...

A grid with four ball-jointed doll portrait photos. Top left: grumpy boy with dark red hair and grey eyes, in a frilly shirt. Top light: big-eyed cute girl with a blonde bob. Christmas photos! I only have enough Christmassy clothes to dress up Hazel (SDM F-61) and Claudia (DearSD + FCS F-07/Nono). Maybe next year I'll try for a bigger group photo. #dollsky #スーパードルフィー #superdollfie

I've been trying to make a Christmas dress in time for Christmas. I still need to finish a few things and make a petticoat. I'm also thinking about a big bow for her hair. I'm quite happy with the sleeves, but maybe the skirt is too short... 🤔

Been working on this cross stitch piece recently. The colours are so cheerful! It's relaxing and going quite quickly, since it's so small. I think next time I'll try something bigger.

A cross stitch piece in progress on white Aida fabric, with a purple gradient sky with moon and stars, plus the start of some grey and pink clouds. In one corner of the piece is a needle minder. It's got a happy frog on it, with the text "Don't worry be hoppy!"

Faceups are so difficult! I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, but I might have to redo the one on the SDGr Sophie (the lines really are a complete mess and the eyeliner doesn't match). I do quite like the one on my green goblin girl (DoDollsDream Lullaby Miss Ao).

Definitely the washed pair! It makes such a difference to the realism. I think washing/drying like this, plus pressing seams, are two things that many doll clothes miss in terms of getting the scale to look right. This is a really nice comparison. 🙌

I started knitting a pink jumper for the Volks birthday celebrations later this month (the dress code is pink). I'm making it oversized so it should fit any of my 1/3 scale dolls, but I'm secretly thinking that my Ludo or Williams would look great in it.

A short piece of knitting in progress, still on the knitting needles. The knitted fabric is pale pink with a white stripe. In the background are two balls of wool, one pink and one white.
