The Social Reckoning bombed because there was no reckoning irl. People have no idea what the movie is about. Also it looks like Netflix slop

We should’ve never let them get away with calling things “free” when it’s part of something you’re paying for

Back to back...and back again. 💅 Making history is what she does. A’ja Wilson is the only player in WNBA history to win Most Valuable Player three times in a row.

Look, if you can’t put a real photo of your food on your menu, DO NOT put an AI-generated one. I feel this should be common sense

Putting “reddit” at the end of your google search isn’t enough anymore. Now you have to be careful trusting any Reddit answers from the last year or so when grifters realized that AIs are scraping forums for answers and started putting bs in there

I’m confused by the number of people calling out “-maxing” as incel language when they should really be calling out “mogging”. Maxing comes from “minmaxing”, an old gaming term. Mogging comes from “AMOG” or “alpha male of the group”, an incel forum term.

I still have a ton of doubts that the MCU can actually do a good adaptation of x-men but the cast so far and the Spider-Man movie have me leaning hopeful

Having to take a car everywhere is one of the most insidious ways Americans are trained to accept a level of casual violence and danger in their lives. Heavy pieces of machinery that are deadly if they hit you. (I had to drive to my nephew’s soccer game in the middle of nowhere yesterday)

I can see why Tom Holland has been talking about how he’s going to pass the Spider-Man mantle on at some point because after Brand New Day it feels like he should just play it forever

It’s more important than ever to understand the camera when watching videos. Who is holding it? Does the person being recorded know the camera is there? Why is the shot framed like that? You might not like meta glasses but you’ve probably liked a video shot on them already. Have to stay critical

I don’t know where along the way people got convinced that Christopher Nolan doesn’t use CGI but he absolutely does and to great effect. He captures a lot in camera too but every single one of his big, most celebrated hits has used CGI. CGI is not inherently bad

I see people use “humming” or “whirring” but humming implies some bass to it and it’s a thin sound like metal on metal to me. Whirring implies some circular motion and it’s too consistent to suggest that imo.

0110

Nick @slownick.bsky.social · 14/07/2026

What do we call that sound that hybrids and EVs make? It’s not an engine noise obviously so idling doesn’t feel right. It almost sounds like wheels on rail like a train but it’s too consistent
