Reposting a huge paragraph from the authoritarian leader’s proprietary social media site with the tag “I am in strong agreement with the President” no matter the context is a strong signal that this mould of Democrat does not have what it takes to resist Trump.

This government is naive about what is coming. Famine, armed conflict, disease and natural disasters are basically the horsemen of the apocalypse, greed is idolatry, and hell is a hotter climate. Not to get too Christian with it. Point being: 34M is a pittance www.ctvnews.ca/canada/artic...

Carney’s legacy might be going to the mat for 1 (or 2) publicly funded oil pipelines + airport and failing to do the same for HSR. Hard to square with his climate finance background, unless he was far more interested in finance than climate.

The PCs are having a bad time. The corruption isn’t new but it’s sticking to them for the first time (hotel charges, Dunlop’s disaster interview). When voters look at who to turn to, it will be the NDP who have been putting feet to fire this whole time.

I do not appreciate Carney, who’s been obscenely wealthy his entire adult life, lying about what one of the richest nations ever can and cannot afford. He’s just laundering his view that the incumbent oil sector must be protected for national unity at the expense of vulnerable people.

What's bugging me about the whole empty condo debacle is that I bet, if Carney had gone up and said "I am going to legally expropriate and seize all these empty condos for affordable housing" the same people complaining now would probably love it, even if the payoff to developers was the exact same.

The government buying privately-developed housing units is a legitimate way to create social housing. Prices have not yet been negotiated. To the extent that most housing in Canada is private, should market downturns be allowed to cripple an industry building public amenities like housing?

This is an utterly unnecessary editorial that serves no purpose other than to attempt to appease racists who will never be appeased in the first place, at the expense of Indigenous families who lost loved ones.
Globe and Mail editorial board piece starts with the headline:

“There is no reconciliation without truth”

Then it begins:

“Two things can be true, at the same time. Five years after the startling announcement that there were hundreds of possible unmarked graves near a residential school in Kamloops, B.C., there has been no public confirmation of the discovery of any human remains. That is reality, one reality.
Another is this: 3,200 Indigenous children, at least, died at residential schools, according to the 2015 report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Residential school students died at a rate far higher than children in the rest of Canada - a negligence so deep-rooted that it came
"within unpleasant nearness" of manslaughter, according to a government official in the early “

Two unpopular truths in America re climate change: 1. The worst impacts possible by 2100 have been avoided, this fact is trivial. Even 100GW of electricity produced by clean energy rather than fossil fuels could have achieved this, let alone the 2T+ the world has.
Pew research polling showing most Americans believe the world will not do enough to avoid the worst impacts from climate change.
