Object oriented programming is bad on many fronts, but id argue the worst is trying to decipher labyrinthine pathways just to get the data you need. I spend more time jumping through and reading code then actually writing it. It's absolutely demotivating.

i watched the entire state of ue and i think the biggest thing that bothers me is just everything seems to move towards removing creativity completely out of making games. the idea of everything as a process takes over. it's antithetical to experiencing joy in this business, what is even the point.

It does makes sense that Epic would abandon BP for Verse because it's what their ultimate goal of supporting the uber game fortnite ecosystem over anything else in the games industry. There is still time and they may change their mind, but licenses for individual games aren't the true money maker.
