I always remember this show as just being lighthearted and funny in a Konosuba-type way - rewatching it I'm reminded that it's actually really hype, with striking visuals and great voice acting. All around enjoyable show, with some great, slow-paced character episodes inbetween the big action ones.

Really solid first half, falls off a bit in the second. A lot of the flak the show gets for its "autistic blank slate" protagonist feels like it's effectively countered by the fact that the show stars horrifically traumatized children who've endured brutal, inhumane conditions their entire lives.

Ligma/sugma/etc. are just variations of the same ur-joke. They have the same setup, they have the same payoff. The only difference is in the details, the nuance, the specific ways they're tweaked to catch you unaware. This show has one joke and that's what's so good about it. also Hime-chan a cute

Competent seiyuu absolutely crushing chaotic, Robert Altman-esque, overlapping dialogue, where everyone's constantly annoyed at each other. Funny as fuck. Nice little story about friendship. This is a singular vision. Can't wait to see what Kameyama Youhei does next. Absolute SOUL.

Doing one of those "media threads" I've seen people do. I wanna get a little bit more thoughtful in regards to the things i watch, read or whatever, and I figured writing something short about each thing would be a good way to start. Gonna take a little while to catch up on this year, though.

Don't know if I ever shared Bocchi the Urbanmech. Painted her, and a bunch of other BattleTech mechs, to introduce a couple friends to miniature wargaming through Flames of Orion. No one showed any interest whatsoever, so we ended up never playing. #battletech
