There is a wisdom to it—we just say those with certain elements have certain traits. Or perhaps having those qualities is what causes one to develop magic. We have perhaps less of an answer than you, as we don’t even have folklore to explain it to agree upon.

In some aspects, yes. I think the ideal is a mix of the two—a center for learning where you find a mentor versed in your path and learn from them mostly, but with a plethora of knowledge to fall back on when your talents diverge. So, perhaps we can learn from each other. There is merit to both +

There’s something to a mentor-mentee relationship, I will say, that mage academies lack. While a center of knowledge is great, some young mages never flourish because they don’t have someone guiding them directly.

Then perhaps if you have any libraries, as well as a few copies to be read to elders willing to learn new tales. It is…harder when the tradition is oral to record stories and share new ones, but not impossible. It just makes the task ahead more important.

I’m less worried about the ghost, which isn’t real, and more worried about Vestra’s traps he undoubtedly put on his office door because he forced me to trap my own door too after I became a minister. Vestra’s magic is real and can hurt you, unlike ghosts.
