Last week I attended Wesley Jackson for Mayor of Brampton's event where he shared his platform to fight corruption and protect our municipal government. I've added these ideas to my own platform and I hope to enact these changes as your Regional Councillor. www.votestevenlee.ca/platform

Paul Vicente's team put a sign up on my grandmother's lawn... I'm going to say that one wasn't done with permission. 😅 #Brampton

I want to take a moment to thank the organizers of the Better Brampton Debate for inviting me to participate today. My sincere compliments to Mr. Idris Orughu, a fellow candidate, for joining me for an informative and good-spirited discussion of the issues facing Brampton. #Brampton #ONpoli

I want to give people options. If we want to reduce traffic and congestion we need to make alternatives viable. We have to solve the destination piece if we want to help people choose cycling as a method to commute, buy groceries, visit the bank, or access transit. #Brampton #ONpoli

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. I hope today we can all take some time to reflect on our country's history, remember the victims, and commit ourselves to a better, more just Canada. #NationalDayofTruthandReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay

Removing bike lanes is not going to help congestion. This government is spending millions of dollars making roads less safe and removing infrastructure, rather than building for the future.

Last winter I witnessed that along major routes, such as Queen Street, the sidewalks were completely buried under snow several days after major snowstorms. This is unacceptable. Thoroughfares should be clear so people who must walk can access transit and their destinations. #Brampton #ONpoli

Thanks to the Brampton Triveni Mandir & Community Centre for hosting a meet and greet with candidates earlier this week and the St. Paul's United Church's Dessert Club for inviting me to speak and share my vision for Brampton. My campaign is built upon a simple belief - we can make Brampton better.

Brampton residents have seen concerning behaviour out of City Hall. There should be better, more transparent public disclosure of spending and violations of the rules should come with real penalties. Without change, the public will continue to be taken advantage of. #Brampton #ONpoli

Creating walkable areas that are safe for everyone to use is a great way to spur on economic activity & create dynamic, outdoor spaces. Cities like Montreal have seen great success in making roads better for pedestrians. Making vibrant, active spaces should be a goal for our city. #Brampton #ONpoli

Libraries provide an important and valuable service to the community. Giving residents access to reading materials, the internet freely, and provide a space for public events is important. Council has neglected our libraries, even giving one away one of our flagship libraries. #Brampton #OnPoli

There is no doubt that the Premier and his government have interfered with local government to an unprecedented degree. Premier Ford has made a number of short-sighted decisions to impose his desires on cities and towns across Ontario costing municipalities millions of dollars. #ONpoli #Brampton

One of the best ways to reduce traffic congestion, provide affordable housing, and create vibrant, productive neighbourhoods is through transit-oriented development. Brampton should build hubs around major transit hubs and along key corridors for employment and housing. #Brampton #ONpoli

As I've been talking with voters one of the topics that comes up over and over is homelessness. People experiencing homelessness deserve help and our City and Region need to step up. #Brampton #ONpoli

I spent this morning campaigning in the area of Rutherford Rd. N. I met a voter and he spoke to me about how important it is for civic engagement and the health of our democracy to participate. Our system is healthiest and strongest when people are engaged. #ONpoli #Brampton

The sort of massive data centres currently being proposed have no place in Brampton. I have major concerns about the impact on the health & well-being of local residents. Furthermore, it's a bad investment for the city. Land should be dedicated to productive uses that creates jobs #Brampton #ONpoli

In recent years, we have seen the impact of climate change in our region: flooding, wildfires, high heat, and powerful storms. I want our city to be proactive and prepared so when an extreme weather event occurs, we are not caught off-guard. #Brampton #ONpoli

Brampton needs dedicated rental stock to address the housing issues confronting the city, but apartments don't have to be giant towers. This building is on a residential street near my home in Ward 1. It's surrounded by detached homes and fits in just fine. #Brampton #ONpoli

Councillors and other politicians have been promising this for years and have not delivered. My understanding is that CN Rail owns the track and we are bottlenecked, so, let's work with Metrolinx to add more track and get this done. #Brampton #ONpoli

It's undeniable that maintenance of our public spaces and facilities has suffered. Instead of new boondoggle projects, the city should focus first on keeping our existing parks, sidewalks, roads, infrastructure, and public buildings in a state Bramptonians can be proud of. #Brampton #ONpoli

Brampton's local election approach makes it harder for new candidates, gives poorer representation, and confuses voters. In addition, we current have an imbalanced method to assign our 9 seats at Peel Regional Council. Each ward should elect its own councillor. #Brampton #ONpoli

Small changes can make a big difference. Rezoning areas ready for growth could help us build a lot of housing more quickly than waiting for big developers with big projects to come in. Not only will it help fight the housing crisis, it will be good for out local economy. #Brampton #ONpoli

Too many people are hurt or killed on our roads every year. Poor road design is bad for everyone. There are solutions we can look to to make our streets safer for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The Strong Mayor Powers are undemocratic. With them in place, it is more important than ever to have councillors willing to challenge the mayor and hold him accountable. We need councillors willing to fight for the public interest.

The current council has been pushing towards privatization and cutting back on city and regional services. Too much money has been thrown away in wasteful, private contracts. I am opposed to the privatization of our water. We must fight to protect the public interest.

Brampton's City Council cut Brampton Transit's budget and eliminated 4 routes. This is a bad decision at most times, but is especially grievous when fuel costs are spiking. If we want to reduce congestion and deal with traffic in the city, transit is one of the most powerful tools we have.

Building up our local economy with locally-owned businesses will make us more resilient, generate more jobs, & make us less reliant on big, outside players. The City should help to foster an environment that makes it easier for entrepreneurs to take a risk & open their own businesses in Brampton.

The Housing Crisis impacts everyone; young people can't find homes, seniors can't downsize, and budgets are stretched tight. It is a burden holding Bramptonians back. I think it is the most important issue for the city to tackle and what I want to address when I'm your Regional Councillor.

This is a terrible move. When public safety and crime is involved we should not be relying on AI. Peel police launch AI voice assistant for non‑emergency calls share.google/sr5MrWFANt3y...
