A customer just tried to use an employee discount code that ChatGPT gave her. I work at a high-end clothing store and clocked in to my manager telling me about the most unhinged interaction from yesterday. A woman walked in asking if she could use a 40% off code she got online. We don't have any sales running, so my manager looks at the screen and realizes ChatGPT straight up handed this woman a real employee's internal ID number.

I keep asking myself how does one reform after doing something terrible if nobody knows you did it? He owed it to all of the people who worked with him to tell them. He rolled the dice on being a public figure knowing this could come out but nobody else was in on the gamble.

I also remember being a little kid and seeing Gerry Anderson's show Terrahawks. The bad guy was a space witch named Zelda and apparently I would hide behind the couch whenever she was on screen.

I think the first piece of media that ever scared me was an episode of a cartoon called The Littles. These little guys who lived in a neighborhood in vents and stuff. There was an episode where a woman had a substance abuse problem and one of the Littles ingested the drug and started hallucinating

And that's their right, not because it's dispensing some sort of justice, but because you're letting them know they're taking the same risk you are. You can't reform yourself if nobody knows you're doing it and why. You can't tell them afterwards that you've been working on yourself ever since.

And forgiveness begins with confession does it not? If you are truly willing to take responsibility for something terrible that could have a knock on effect to anyone you work with then you'd let them decide that for themselves. And if they said "nah I'll pass" they've made an informed decision

I think what I resent the most is that all of us, especially the women who worked with him, were a part of his rehabilitation (at least image-wise) without us ever getting to choose if that was something we wanted to participate in. He didn't let us or his audience make a choice. How ironic.

If anyone wants to just get a taste of what these books are like, I recommend at least reading What the Hell Did I Just Read. I believe it's Jason's favorite and it's certainly mine. The way he switches between different characters perspectives and the contradictory things they see is so fun
