This has actually become like the biggest pet peeve of mine. When I haven’t heard of a piece of media or whatever it is, I assume I’m ignorant and look it up. When other people say they’ve never heard of something, they usually say it to me in a tone of, “therefore, it is irrelevant to the universe”

The only time I hate the “I’ve never heard of this” attitude is when it’s used to dismiss the thing they’ve never heard of as irrelevant. Working as a curator particularly in books, would have my placements questioned a lot because “I’ve never heard of it.” Sorry you can’t assume you’re ignorant?
