2. But Anthropic researchers say they see patterns that suggest that Claude can. The employees at Anthropic are telling themselves stories based on the words they input into the software and the words that come back out. >>

I asked ChatGPT to create a cover for a course catalogue of a "university for people who have given up thinking due to AI over-reliance". To be fair, this is a pretty good take -- and more subtle than I expected... #aislop #criticalthinking #deskillling #chatGPT #philsky
ChatGPT-created fictitious cover of a course catalogue of a university for people who have give up thinking: android leaning back with a mug "AI does thinking for you" in front of him, and advertised degree programmes "BA in Artificial Thought" and "PhD in Epistemic Delegation".

Someone told an American - who repeated it back to me - that Irish dancing came from ‘during colonialism’ people trying to hide when they were dancing in bars - cos the Brits didn’t like it - so they didn’t move their arms incase soldiers were looking through windows. Best laugh i’d had in ages!

...the solution is usually to do the goddam work. It's fascinating to watch how AI is reshaping but not at all reinventing the centuries-old conversation about the outsourcing, automation, and invisibilisation of care work and (to follow Verges) 'dirty work'. AI Bros are just so profoundly naive.

Viral reports this week suggested new Google satellite imagery showed unseen destruction in Gaza. But the imagery actually depicts the scene in February 2026. Bellingcat has obtained satellite images from September that show how the destruction has continued. www.bellingcat.com/news/middle-...

Yeah! But if one of the things that makes them too weird is that they were upright, maybe they weren’t? On the other hand the larger circumference at the “base” doesn’t really support the horizontal argument. And this article decisively characterizes them as fungi, whereas they probably aren’t

Magical creatures don’t exist, eh? Roughly 400 million years ago, before the birth of trees, there were giant mystery cones called “Prototaxites,” which grew nearly 30 feet tall. We literally have no idea what they were. Plant: no Mushroom: no Animal: no Tell me this isn’t a little bit magic

The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, next to a stick figure labeled “AI”. The stick figure says, “my outputs look just like yours now.”
The second panel zooms in on Sarah’s face. Above her we see text reading “I think”.
The third panel zooms in closer on Sarah’s face. Text above her reads “you missed”.
The fourth panel shows Sarah drawing happily in a sunlit room. The text above her reads “the point”.
