You have fantastic taste and that makes you buff. Super buff. In HD. It is a mystery as to why though.

Seems they are deleting questions about AI on the Steam forums and there is at least one person getting grumpy about it under my screenshot. Maybe it's not AI, which is fair. Just with how they are throwing a sheet over it makes it more suspicious.

Oh! Maybe it was Antstream: www.timeextension.com/news/2026/09... Considering the horrid mess regarding James Pond, I'm not surprised the title screen for the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary has AI looking art on it.

TBH I should have seen this from a mile away. Modern Commodore are a bit slimy with this kind of stuff. Considering the price tag for the games, this is insulting.

And I just finished Cicadamata. Not something I've been playing obsessively, just a level or two every week or so. Very impressive. The ending was some odd whiplash, but in general I thought it was superb. Top 10 GotY stuff.

Herald of Havok: Very, very core boomer shooter. Will likely be only for folks who live, breathe and die boomshoot. If you are only mildly into the genre or got sick of it, an absolute nightmare. Moros Protocol: Well made roguelite dungeon crawler in space. Very well made. I don't like it much.

Super Buff HD: Very silly. Seems fun. Will likely play through a level at a time over the course of the remainder of the year. IllWill: Super basic, but passable. A game I imagine was made by someone who unironically listens to Korn and Linken Park a lot.

Bears in Space: Not my kind of thing on paper, but it plays really well and keeps things varied. Some of the humour is not bad. Roboquest: I've barely touched it, but seems like a cool Roguelite. Plays well, looks nice. Will unlikely find the time for it if I'm honest.

This just makes me think of my language escapades: Japanese: "Most of this is easy, but the verb system is a mess" English for teaching: "A lot of piddly little connecting words. Odd verb system." Latin: "OVER COMPLICATED VERBS EVERYWHERE!"

One thing I do find quite amusing with the RO lineage, is that the only single thing that has survived is the Darkest Hour mod. In its time, RO2 came and went, RS1 passed, it had a sequel in RS2 and that time has gone too. 83 didn't even launch into 1.0. store.steampowered.com/app/1280/Dar...

Was it perfect? No. In fact, if you are going to try to review it in a professional manner I doubt it would get more than a 6/10. That kind of misses the point. Mayhem's Deathcrush is a bad album. You can tell they did not give a shit though. Raw, ugly, off-putting, loving its foul existance.

Voltage High Society finished. That was more than just some game, that was some absolute lunatic's life work. It was very rough and quite raw, but it has the same 'ambition outstrips capabilities, yet did it anyhow' feel as E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, and that will likely stick with me more.

I honestly think this is the perfect black metal album. Somehow both sad and gothic, but always raw and frequently brutal. It has the same energy as Darkthrone where it is just the sound of a couple of guys with instruments and a cheap recording system, yet it sounds evil and sad as fuck via riffs.

While I'm reading the Microsoft news, I will say it is sad, but not surprising at all. At this point I'm just to presume they are going to keep doing this until nothing is left with the execs hoping to just make an AI platform using the IPs. If they can gut someone like Id, nobody is safe.

Despite today being what could best be described as am annoying headache (I really dislike Shinjuku), I did get one of my favorite Black Metal CDs. Since moving to Japan I've not listened to this, so a good moment. I'm not sure it'll make as much sense in Japan though, as opposed to cold Yorkshire.

A reminder today that I really dislike Shinjuku. I know some folks see it as the beating heart of Tokyo, but fucking hell is ot a mess to navigate! I don't think it even looks that nice. It just feels like overcrowded city centre. Masses of indistinct buildings covered in lights. Blegh!

I can't tell if it is a Steam problem, or if Fulqrum are sitting on their hands. I know a lot of folks like them because of their legacy and they have had very good sponsorship policies, but something about their quality control seems off. Like 3D Realms, but less hubris.

youtu.be/cBZp-newY2Q I sort of like the pace of this better than the Realms Deep videos from way back, mostly because this is varied enough to be interesting but also does not drag on. That said, the fact this has been broken for the whole sale is silly. No fest page, just reroutes you to store.

Ok, a couple of videos methinks. The gameplay is like a more advanced Alien Resurrection. Like Doom 3 mixed with the said title, where you walk about a space base, talking with folks and carrying out basic quests. The following is the opening sections of the first part of the game.

I've straight up given up on ever being able to get any Valve hardware. The store in Asia is always out of stock, mostly because as soon as stock comes in it gets botted to hell instantly. Unless a shop in Akihabra gets it in, it is not for sale in Japan. They no longer get stuff in.

I'm actually going to come out swinging for the 6500xt. Sure, it was a poor GPU when it came to value for money at the time, but for indie stuff, the GPU is fine. Now, for a sub $100 card, it'll do your indie stuff fine. It's likely more power efficient than an rx580 at this point too!

SCUMM @skumm.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Works perfectly. I didn't notice any frame drops, so I guess it'll run on a potato considering this is sub RX580 / GTX 1060 levels of hardware. I would record it, but RX6500XT and trying to record stuff are not good bedfellows.

SCUMM @skumm.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Screw it! I just repasted my 'Steam Dreck' (not a typo) with the RX6500XT. I may as well see how it performs on something lower spec than a monster R7 9800X3D + RX9070XT system.

Aside from my weather woes, I've played this for about an hour. For pure vibes, this is GotY easily. It has the right degree of PS1 wobble without going ott with how much some games try. I'll try it with Shaderglass at some point I think. My main want right now is a framerate limiter.
