And I just finished Cicadamata. Not something I've been playing obsessively, just a level or two every week or so. Very impressive. The ending was some odd whiplash, but in general I thought it was superb. Top 10 GotY stuff.

Voltage High Society finished. That was more than just some game, that was some absolute lunatic's life work. It was very rough and quite raw, but it has the same 'ambition outstrips capabilities, yet did it anyhow' feel as E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, and that will likely stick with me more.

While I'm reading the Microsoft news, I will say it is sad, but not surprising at all. At this point I'm just to presume they are going to keep doing this until nothing is left with the execs hoping to just make an AI platform using the IPs. If they can gut someone like Id, nobody is safe.

Despite today being what could best be described as am annoying headache (I really dislike Shinjuku), I did get one of my favorite Black Metal CDs. Since moving to Japan I've not listened to this, so a good moment. I'm not sure it'll make as much sense in Japan though, as opposed to cold Yorkshire.

A reminder today that I really dislike Shinjuku. I know some folks see it as the beating heart of Tokyo, but fucking hell is ot a mess to navigate! I don't think it even looks that nice. It just feels like overcrowded city centre. Masses of indistinct buildings covered in lights. Blegh!

I've straight up given up on ever being able to get any Valve hardware. The store in Asia is always out of stock, mostly because as soon as stock comes in it gets botted to hell instantly. Unless a shop in Akihabra gets it in, it is not for sale in Japan. They no longer get stuff in.

I've seen a few posts pointing out that a number of these companies may not lay folks off, but the work atmosphere is toxic with crunch out of the ears. Not to beat about the bush, but yes there is crunch and it's toxic. They are Japanese companies working in Japan. Japanese work IS toxic.

So now that Sprawl Zero is done, back to trying to finish Cicadamata (another contender for best FPS of the year) and giving Monomyth a shot. Cicadamata is Jumping Flash with uneasy undertones. Monomyth is PS3 Ultima Underworld via Oblivion.

Pre level deployment in Cicadamata where the main character is wordlessly saying "yes, I am caked up thanks."

Back on Windows on the main PC. Not because I like it, but because of some absolutely infuriating hardware issue that cause CachyOS to shit itself too many times. Both my other systems have Bazite on them, and that should be fine for what they do. Kinda annoying as I REALLY liked CachyOS.

So, despite finding out it was full of AI stuff, albeit way after the refund period, I ploughed through Twisted Tower. I can sort of see why 3D Realms wanted that. It was a mid-to-late 2000s-esque title. Shame I don't care for that kind of stuff really. If you want Bioshock, great. Else, meh!

Twisted Tower finished at just over 8 hours. I restarted my playthrough for controller on normal and played a couple of hours on that, so it is more like a 6 hour game.
