Handpoked (AKA stick and poke) tattoos are so special and intimate because they exist on a global scale. Evidence of tattooing has been found across the Earth; ranging vastly in significance, style, and application. We are all connected through art, and tattoos are an embodiment of that connection.

Examples of tattoos from around the world. Featuring Māori, Samoan, Chinese, Egyptian, Indian, Diné, and Haida tattoos.

A preserved skin of an ancient human, found in Siberia. From the article: "Archaeologist Sergey Yatsenko of the Russian State University for the Humanities says the animal most commonly found was a monster that took the form of a wild goat with an eagle’s beak and a panther’s tail. This creature appeared on the upper part of the right shoulder of most of the mummies. On the left shoulder, the Pazyryk people sported the depiction of a tiger or a wild ram. A rooster poised for battle was frequently tattooed on noblemen’s forefingers, and a group of goats or rams often marched along their lower legs."

Tattoo on the arm of the "Siberian Ice Maiden". She is a mummy from the 5th century that was found near the Russia-China border in 1993. From an article "Ukok Plateau, the Ice Maiden – often referred to as the 'Princess of Ukok' – offered a remarkable glimpse into the world of the Pazyryk people, a nomadic tribe that roamed the steppes more than 2,500 years ago. Impeccably preserved by the cold, the Ice Maiden’s still form lay accompanied by six horses, meticulously arranged in a radial pattern, symbolizing her status and significance in life. But it wasn't just her burial rites or the artifacts she was interred with that drew gasps of wonder and intrigue; it was the intricate designs that adorned her skin."

Little comic I made about a button idea I had for cov!d cautious service workers who are tired of justifying themselves to rude customers. Mind your own business, we're not bothering you. You're acting like we're holding you down and forcing a mask on your face, we're really not. Chill out.

When I found out about Long Covid back in 2022, I began masking everywhere again. I've heard way too many harrowing tales of being unable to leave bed, listen to music, or walk short distances, among many other symptoms. I am unwilling to risk the quality of my life on a preventable disease. 😷

Tattoos I did at an event recently!! I'm super proud of the rat and crow, and it's always fun to do simple dot star designs.

Simple tattoo on back of hand, a triple star outlined in dots. About 2.5 inches across and 2 inches tall.

A simple tattoo design on inner right bicep. Single Star, outlined in dots, about an inch and a half long.

A tattoo design on outer right leg. Tattoo of a rat with a long tail, about 3 inches long.

A tattoo on the left outer calf. A simple crow tattoo, about 3 inches across and 2 inches tall

With the rise of so many health risks in US society, I believe requiring masks + testing in collective spaces is one of the biggest forms of harm reduction we can take. Covid cautious spaces are invaluable, because they take into consideration that you most likely can't afford to get sick.

Graffiti I saw on my short visit to Oregon, I didn't get a pic but it said "1000's of years of cruel leaders... let's be done with it" I have never seen more graffiti calling for the end of how things are. I hope we realize soon that we all deserve better, we don't have to settle for this.

Unfriendly reminder: if you had a job that paid $10,000 an hour, working 40 hours a week, it would take you about 50 years to make a billion dollars. Billionaires didn't work for the kind of money they possess. That's OUR money. WE are the labor that lines the pockets of our enemies.

It takes, on average, 9-10 hours to make this hike. There was a significant effort in doing this.

If you're apolitical, you're apathetic. Politics are part of every aspect of our lives, whether you want to admit it or not. Maybe you don't want stir the pot. Maybe you feel like you don't know enough to have an opinion. These aren't good enough reasons to isolate yourself from the world. Be brave!

I'm a mask required studio! I take Covid and the prospect of Bird Flu very seriously. I mask in and out of the studio; in all public spaces with my high quality Flo-Mask. In this consumer culture, the only things we truly "have" are our health and time. Our govt doesn't gaf, sadly. I do though!!

I went to the MoPop today to see the Keith Haring exhibit. I made a trans version of his art for my shirt, and it felt like his art was staring at it. I feel a lot of kinship with Keith. His generosity and love of the world lifts me. I love you Keith, thank you for everything.

Here's a totally dope tattoo trade I did with @skullgunk.bsky.social Placing the stencil for this was so much fun, I wish I got a video 😭

(Featuring the demon heads) The back of a client, showing a fresh tattoo of three cartoon demon heads stacked on top of each other on the right shoulder, and three cartoon skulls stacked on top of each other on the left shoulder, both oriented towards an older pentagram tattoo that was not done by me.

Cool art (I'd like to redraw the skull) and a little blurb about my first roommate in a mental hospital. Her name was Raven, I hope she's doing well. Would you all be interested in hearing more lil blurbs like this? I'd really like to share my writing more often, I've been reluctant to share.
