Making sure your body has its basic needs fulfilled can be really helpful - it gives you a simple goal every day and tangibly helps you feel better through chemistry. Eat well and regularly, drink plenty of water, get enough rest and force yourself to go outside, even if it feels pointless.

She basically had 1.5 thumbs on both paws. But lately she had started chewing all of them into nubs. She's a very active cat so walking a lot while putting weight on those toes was what caused her pains. She was also compensating for them with her gait, so removing them entirely was for the best.

Yams had a surgery today to remove her polydactyl thumbs, because they were causing her pain. Never knew extra toes could have complications but here we are. She is far less bothered by the amputation than she is having to wear a cone and take drugs. Overjoyed every moment we take the cone off hehe

X-rays of two polydactyl cat paws. They show a fully formed extra toe on both feet, but also a pair of malformed toes in between two full ones. Orthopedic vet concluded that removing only the malformed toes wasn't going to help Yams, so all four thumbs were amputated.

Yams after coming home from the surgery. She's a tortoiseshell cat, here happily lounging on a person's lap and squinting her eyes. Little does she know she's about to wear a cone merely minutes later.
Both of her front paws are shaved and stitched, and she has a bandage on her arm from the IV.

I thought the same thing immediately. When people are asked to judge aesthetics and they're shown pictures, it's not easy to separate the design of the bower from the aesthetics of the photo. Even an analytical participant will be influenced by the quality of the photography.

It was surprisingly difficult haha. The photography troubled me a bit, because some bowers were shot from more flattering angles and better lighting than others. Skews the results for sure.

Ohh I see. Yeah the membrane definitely hugs the wrist there despite the otherwise wonderful renders. A game I play also has that feature on pteranodon and it always looked a little off to me, but I ignored it as an animation quirk. I didn't think it was a style used in more mainstream contexts.

Being realistic doesn't also equal dooming. Dooming kills pushback efforts by encouraging you to give up. Everyone is entitled to their private thoughts but you need to think about it before you just start brain dumping on people's posts designed to encourage action

So your goal is to make as good a painting as you can in that time. It won't be great because of the time limit, so you just have to focus on getting the composition, colors and shapes there. But you'll see yourself improving quickly. Making a full painting won't be so intimidating soon after.

Many people try to get good first and become fast after. But with painting it can be super helpful to do the opposite. Take a photo ref and give yourself 60 or even just 30 mins. The result is what it is. When it's done you're good for the day. Repeat the next day.

In a nutshell, artists are fighting for their right to make, share and sell the kind of art they want because doing so is their right, and it's never a good sign that authorities try to take your rights away. That's why it concerns not just NSFW artists but everyone else too.

These artists see what a slippery slope this is. It's a wider cultural movement tied to the current rise of fascism that tries to suppress artistic expression with a puritanical hand. The ideology that wants adult content out of platforms also suppresses queer people.
