🏠♀️Why do we need feminist housing policy? Last week at the BAG W women’s conference in Leipzig, I talked about gender, housing insecurity, debt & eviction – and why housing loss starts long before someone loses their home. Thanks for the inspiring conversations! 💜
Of course. For Bluesky, I’d keep the alt texts descriptive rather than promotional and make sure the key text embedded in each graphic is accessible.
🏠 Feminist housing policy / BAG W — Alt text
Sharepic for a recap of the BAG Wohnungslosenhilfe women’s conference in Leipzig on 29 September 2026. The background shows a long, light-coloured corridor with arched ceilings and wooden benches. Overlaid text reads: “Warum feministische Wohnungspolitik? Geschlecht, Wohnungsmarkt und strukturelle Ungleichheit”, a talk by Dr. Sarah Klosterkamp, Goethe University Frankfurt. Three statistics are highlighted: 452,900 people were accommodated due to homelessness in Germany in 2026, 42% of them women; 76,000 people, or 17%, lived in single-parent households; and 72% of homeless women who were not institutionally accommodated experienced hidden homelessness, for example staying temporarily with friends, acquaintances or relatives.

New in TIBG: 'Spores of displacement: Legal geographies of mould, evidence and housing precarity' by @sklosterkamp.bsky.social This paper develops a legal geography of mould, drawing on rental disputes & eviction proceedings in German courts. doi.org/10.1111/tran...
A graphical abstract for a paper in Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers by Sarah Klosterkamp with the following text:

Spores of displacement: Legal geographies of mold, evidence and housing precarity. Examining how mold functions as a legal object in tenant-landlord disputes.

1) Mold as a legal threshold object: Court cases over mold growth expose evidentiary hierarchies between tenants and landlords.
2) De-renting and eviction: rent reductions intended to protect tenants paradoxically facilitate eviction and exclusion
3) Export knowledge and proptech: The use of building inspections and digital monitoring tools disadvantages tenants with limited resources.

Mold disputes illustrate how housing precarity is both produced and adjudicated through legal infrastructures.

HEIMLICH BEIM SEX GEFILMT
„meinen" gespreizten nackten Schritt, „meinen" nackten Körper.

✨ CfP AAG 2026, San Francisco ✨ Tabea Latocha and I are teaming up feminist fabulative futures and we’d love for you to join us. Our proposed session explores how storytelling, speculation, and fabulation can help us imagine housing otherwise — beyond ownership, extraction, and displacement. 🏡🌿💭
Call for Papers – AAG 2026, San Francisco
Feminist Fabulative Futures: Imagining Housing Otherwise

In the midst of intersecting housing, debt, as well as climate and democracy crises, imagination
becomes a political act. Feminist scholars and artists have long turned to the speculative and the
fabulative to envision worlds that could be otherwise – worlds where care, interdependence, and
collective dwelling replace dispossession, extraction, and foreclosure (McElroy 2023; Thieme 2021;
Netzwerk Feministische Wohnforschung 2025). This session invites contributions that take seriously
the feminist call to imagine differently in the face of deepening urban precarity.

Rather than treating the housing crisis as a failure of politics and finance alone, we approach it as a
failure of imagining housing and its politics radically otherwise. Following feminist and decolonial
traditions of world-making (e.g. Haraway 2013), we ask: What narratives, aesthetics, and speculative
practices can help us re-story housing beyond ownership and enclosure? How can fabulation-as
method, theory, or art-expand what we understand as home, property, or repair? And how might
feminist engagements with fiction, film, sound, and design open pathways toward inhabiting more just
and caring futures?

We seek creative, conceptual, and empirical contributions that explore how feminist fabulative
thinking reshapes our understanding of housing and urban life – both in theory and in practice.
