And here's Flapsy Wiggleton all primed and shiny and chrome! Witness them! And the poor Space Marine having a Bad Time 🤣 I've left the wings off the Heldrake for now to make painting easier. #miniatures

Customised heldrake model with a scratch-built tail and rear legs, posed on top of a reactor, with a dead space marine gripped in its front right claw. The heldrake and base is primed silver while the marine is primed white.

Meet Flapsy Wiggleton, my customised Heldrake with scratch-built tail and rear legs! The tail is articulated (best quality: their wiggles) and the rear leg joints are functional to help with posing. Approximately a hundred-ish hours of indecision and faffing about to get to this point! 🤣 #minatures

Okay so I am terrible at keeping up with things here, but better late than never, right? 🤣 I was at GHMX last weekend, entered some of my minis into their mini competition, and of the three categories I entered, I won gold in all three :3 I was both surprised and delighted at these results! :D

Some advice from a couple of years ago that I still think most creative people need to hear --

Don't put down your own work. Plenty of people want to devalue you and the things you Make. Don't help them do it.

Adjusted the backdrop and started painting! probably gonna add a couple of sky lanterns in the background too :D

Photo of the great spirit longma mini on a custom display base, made to look like a mountain top poking up out of the clouds, with other mountain tops and a couple of sky lanterns in the background. The sky is partially painted. The gaming base of the mini is fully painted in greys, browns and greens to look like weathered, mossy stone tiles and dirt.

Here's a couple of my WIPs atm! The lightning for the dragon's base still needs some refining, but overall I'm quite pleased with how it's turning out. I'm also pleased with the tweaks I made to the gryphon model to get this specific head/reins to work with this rider. lmk what you think! :D

Planning on adding a scratch-built tail to my heldrake! The joint between neck and body has also been mildly articulated, but I don't think I'll bother doing so with any of the limbs. They'll get glued in after painting (if i ever get that far! 🤣)

Assembling a Heldrake for myself, decided to attempt articulating the head a bit! Drilled a couple of holes, carved a connecting piece out of sprue, and it works quite nicely! Reasonable range of motion and it also lets me extend/retract the head a bit. Gonna make painting easier!
