Riverbank grapes, native to Illinois. They're tart and delicious. Like Goldenrod, they are extremely eager to take advantage of whatever space nature makes for them. The swarm of vines found here on the lakeshore are probably a decade+ old, and throw out bushel fulls of tasty purple orbs.

Lake Michigan was especially angry on Sunday. We went down to watch the 2-meter high waves crashing into the shore. It's rarely busy when the red flag waves high, but we saw a surfer trying to take advantage of the weather; we also saw a cute couple taking photos.

A man surfing, and another man holding up celebratory balloons while standing on a half-dilapidated concrete beach groin turned pier for the gentleman's photo-op.
