Haven been to a couple of art museums recently, I what the oldest known oil paining is. Some say that the method was pioneered by Jan van Eyck (the dude with the red table cloth on his head). However, about 800 years earlier Buddhist monks in todays Afghanistan painted murals with oil paint.

We (@jose-e.bsky.social) have a new preprint out in which we explore a Neural Petri Flow on chemical reactions. Turns out that it does atom mapping, reaction classification, reaction forward prediction, and mechanism prediction rather well. arxiv.org/abs/2610.08750 github.com/daenuprobst/npf

Good to see that we support our rich people here. They have been through so much, all this capital doesn't accumulate itself, after all.
A horizontal bar chart titled "Taxing wealth" showing the share of tax revenue from household capital income in select EU countries. While listed countries like Malta (0.3%), Slovakia (0.4%), Latvia (0.7%), and Poland (0.7%) generate positive revenue, the Netherlands sits at -0.9% because it gives back more in homeowner tax breaks than it collects.

Well, well, well...
Tristan Buckmaster, a mathematics professor at New York University, alleged that OpenAI moved on the problem only after word of his unpublished results reached the company. He had worked for nearly a year with Levent Alpöge, a mathematician employed by rival lab Anthropic.

Both men leaned on OpenAI's Codex assistant while assembling their own proofs, and the company can train on those sessions unless users opt out.

Title:
Claude watermarking our work is unethical and disgusting
Post:
We gave the instructions, context, decisions, and countless refinements, claude was the tool.
If Claude starts watermarking the code or anything else it generates, what exactly is it claiming credit for?
By that logic, my internet provider should watermark everything we do. The operating system should watermark everything claude creates, the compiler should watermark every binary we build.
And eventually Claude or Anthropic should opensource everything so that one can tell what exactly Claude did
They are tools and infrastructure, so is Claude.
The final output comes from prompt, thoughts, instructions, decisions, corrections, subscription fee and refinement. The model helped execute that process, if Claude wants to provide provenance, fine. But branding the output because we used its tool is ridiculous, considering it’s ultimately the people’s decision to go with this which text, code.
You didn’t create the work, I gave you the instruction to create the bits.

Excellent! Smart glasses are becoming known as pervert glasses. Some might say the best way to remove them is by punching.
In September 2021, Meta launched Ray-Ban Stories, its first generation of smart glasses. In 2023, Meta and Ray-Ban released Ray-Ban Meta, the second generation of the companies' smart glasses line, with Meta AI integration. In June 2026, Meta released additional smart glasses called Meta Glasses.[1] Meta's smart glasses have received criticism stemming from mistrust over Facebook's privacy controls,[2] the small size of the recording indicator light,[3] and for privacy and ethical concerns, with people labeling them "pervert glasses".[4][5]

... about those scary looking deep-sea fish...
A split image featuring a Black Dragonfish (family Stomiidae, specifically a Pacific Blackdragon / Idiacanthus antrostomus):

Left Side (Macro View): A dramatic close-up showing the creature's menacing, alien-like features against a dark background. It highlights its gaping mouth packed with needle-sharp, glass-like teeth, a small reflective eye, dark reddish skin, and a delicate chin barbel hanging beneath its jaw containing a bioluminescent lure.

Right Side (Scale View): Shows a researcher or handler holding the same specimen in their hands. This perspective highlights its surprising size—while it looks like a gigantic ocean monster in macro photos, it is actually a remarkably thin, ribbon-like creature small enough to coil across a pair of hands.

The head of strategic futures at openai may need a change of underwear. He's very scared.
One probable outcome of an open-weight-model-dominant world is full AI communism, which is precisely what China proposes: rather than a market product, AI is a "public good" which will ultimately be provided by the state as a kind of "digital public infrastructure." This future strikes me as a dystopian hellscape, but I've never met an open-weight models advocate who doesn't ultimately concede this is where things end.

This painting shows Manifest Destiny, the belief in westward expansion of the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. It was widely distributed as an engraving called "Spirit of the Frontier". Settlers are moving west, guided and protected by Columbia, aided by modern technology like railroads, and driving Native Americans and bison into obscurity. Columbia represents America, dressed in a Roman toga to represent classical republicanism, and brings the enlightened east to the darkened west. One of the New York Journal's most infamous cartoons, depicting Philippine–American War General Jacob H. Smith's order "Kill Everyone over Ten," from the front page on May 5, 1902Napalm bombing during Vietnam Warthe Iraqi western war-torn city of Fallujah. Picture released via Reuters on Nov. 27, 2004.
