Sasu Karttunen @skarttunen.me · 20/01/2026There is an urgent need to switch to Europe-based communication, cloud and compute platforms in Europe. The extent of which European public institutions (incl. universities) rely on US tech companies is a serious risk for all of these institutions and the safety of the European population. 133

Sasu Karttunen @skarttunen.me · 05/01/2026A little snow this morning in Delft and much of the NL! The NL transport system is not happy though. Much of the NS rail lines especially around Amsterdam are inoperable. Traffic is a bit of a chaos as I've heard and the cyclists are struggling. No winter tires of course! 141

Sasu Karttunen @skarttunen.me · 26/05/2025The huge inflation in the usage of these words in scientific literature is appalling. Science should have better self-esteem and not fall into LinkedIn-speech (although the trend started much before LinkedIn) to justify their work. Not saying that I've been any better at this. 030

Sasu Karttunen @skarttunen.me · 05/12/2023The energy balance closure of the model can be written like this. This represents all the flows of energy from or to the model and all the places where it can be stored within the model. The sum of all the flows and storages should be zero, i.e. the energy should be conserved. 000
