Autumn?! Never in a million years. Autumn is a little wet at worst, but it's a very tame season. Summer's the worst because you can't escape the heat, the bugs, the droughts, and the school children everywhere! At least in winter you can wrap up.

Game devs: Recruit NEW testers during Beta. I used to test games professionally, and fresh eyes are essential. A new tester can tell you so much that experienced testers have been told/made to overlook. It's so easy to forget what's bothersome about a game when you've tested builds for months.

It sucks all the excitement out of the thrill of human discovery when a robot just brute-forces the solution. It's a little like having the ending of a good movie spoiled for you half way through. People just want the answers. They don't want the method, the journey. Just results and gratification.

A quick search and the top results for the lead journalist on this shows her work focuses almost exclusively on exposés of scandal and dark secrets. This seems like nothing but a fishing trip for material that paints furries in a bad light. No one should touch it with a ten foot pole.

I think you're right. We've somehow bred a culture of people who are so terrified of failure, they'd rather double down on what's wrong than ever admit fault. I think this "logic" extends into using AI - that way, if it goes wrong, well, it's the AI's fault, not yours.

I agree, wholeheartedly. We're quick to vilify people who turn to Gen AI, which is probably only going to make them turn to it even more. People don't like agreeing with folks who make them feel bad, whereas AI is sycophantic by design.

Exactly. I started out drawing shitty drawings of Sonic the Hedgehog. I then made an OC, who was a *literal* stick figure. I'm not kidding. Drew him all the time. Now? We've got a bazillion free tutorials on YouTube. Folks need to remember they exist.

I think people who are newer to the internet - those 18-21 year olds who have grown up with normalised Gen-AI - need our help. And I don't mean that in a "pity them" way. I mean that in a "guide them" way. The internet sucks right now. The kids need a point in the right direction.

I came across someone today who said they use AI because they "can't draw". I told them I couldn't either, until I learned. They said, "but how do I learn?" Gen-AI usage isn't necessarily vindictive, but we do need to encourage people to stop relying on it, and preferably, stop using it entirely.

There is no such thing as an "AI content creator". These people don't "create" anything. Their AI bot amalgamates. If you want to be seen as a creator, then create something yourself. Write a story or a poem. Make an a cappella song. Draw a stick figure. Take photos. Film yourself. It's so easy.

Game developers, a kind request: I know you want a fancy cutscene to play when your game boots, and that's cool and stuff but PLEASE, let players configure settings before that! Watching cutscenes with blasting volume and the wrong resolution is NOT a good first impression, I assure you.
