This is what I sent my MP earlier. It's tailored to him. I've yet to receive a reply. Further guidance is in the link if you live in the UK & want to support trans & gender queer people: ko-fi.com/post/A-Guide... Remember, when many people speak up then it's harder for those in power to ignore us.
I am writing to you as a constituent who is alarmed about the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) updated Statutory Code of Practice for Services, Public Functions and Associations, which was published to Parliament on 21 May 2026. I understand there is now under 40 days in which action would need to be taken before it comes into force. Should it come into force, it will ruin and risk more lives, and further tarnish the UK’s reputation as a defender of human rights and equality.
I am respectfully imploring you as my MP to take a firm and public stance against the Code of Practice that, among many appalling passages, states: ‘13.147 A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from a separate or single-sex service for their own sex might be to prevent discomfort or distress for other service users.’ Fear of any oppressed minority is not and cannot ever be a ‘legitimate aim for excluding’ members of that minority in a document meant to promote and defend equality and human rights.
Throughout the tabled Code of Practice are examples of active discrimination and segregation based on baseless scaremongering. I worked for 20 years in the criminal justice sector and I can assure you that straight cis men are by far the greatest threat danger to women, girls, other men — people, in general. Yet, the Code does not suggest excluding straight cis men from society — and nor should it.
Trans and gender queer people are demonised as intrinsically dangerous to women and girls by certain campaigners as a wedge issue to undermine human rights generally. Amnesty International published a report on 21 May 2026 on this very matter. By their actions, these campaigners are not seeking to protect women and girls. In fact, in the USA they are working to restrict voting rights and are attacking basic rights to bodily autonomy. They are also actively discriminating against the existence of LGBTQIA people. The Liberal Democrats rightly point out that this new Code of Practice goes well beyond the Supreme Court’s ruling in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers and actively undermines the principles behind the Equality Act 2010. The EHRC’s updated Code of Practice remains a grotesque attack on fundamental human rights and will be detrimental to many more groups than the trans and gender queer people specifically targeted. Maggie Chapman MSP rightly observed that ‘for business owners, social groups and workplaces, this guidance makes life harder for everyone. It poses challenges, invasive questioning and suspicion, and puts people at real risk if they don’t conform to gender stereotypes.’ Far from clarifying matters, the new Code is dangerous and disproportionate nonsense.
Please stand up against those who wish to strip away basic human rights principles under the false claim of protecting women and girls. Please act to protect your many trans and gender queer constituents. This new Code of Practice must be debated by Parliament, and it must be rejected by MPs.
Yours sincerely,

A little over 60 years ago, the UK's parliament was debating the then Sexual Offences Bill, which was to decriminalise male homosexuality. This, from David Kerr MP (Labour), who was a doctor, could be used today against way too many people yapping about LGBTQIA people, especially trans people:
"I am not sure what evidence the hon. Member is referring to or to what it testifies. Speaking with what limited knowledge is available to me as a professional man in this field, I may say that this is one long string of claptrap." Quoted in Peter Parker (ed.), Some Men in London volume 2, page 284.
