I ended up thinking back tonight to the early 1970s, when my dad worked evenings in the men's dept at Sears and my mom and I would get dinner either at the Woolworth's counter or at Howard Johnson's. At HoJo's the "Super Sailor" was my go to dinner order. $1.35 for a clam dinner.

I don't understand how schools allow kids to get through high school without learning how to save files, send emails, add attachments, etc. Google classroom is fine, but students also need to know how to export content into MS Office and other formats and how to attach files, upload material, etc.

Feels like we don’t talk enough about how Peter Thiel, who puppeteers JD Vance and funds Trump, has written that he “no longer believes freedom and democracy are compatible” We are literally being run by people who oppose our very system of government. www.cato-unbound.org/2009/04/13/p...

I'm in a discussion on healthy relationships facilitated by our campus office for sexual misconduct and the students were identifying traits of unhealthy and abusive relationships... many of which seem to characterize certain folks in high office in the US in their relationship to the citizens.

I have no idea whether I'll like Greta Gerwig's re-envisioning of The Magician's Nephew, but Queen Jadis in a glinting mod mini shift dress, shimmering go-go boots, and sparkly eye make-up is absolutely amazing.

Days after an absolutely botched attempted execution of a woman (for a heinous crime she committed as a teen 30 years ago), Hegseth now wants to execute a domestic terrorist on livestream by firing squad. The barbarians already live among us & they're not who the gov't wants you to think they are.

I'm also getting to that point in life where, at least on my side of the family, there are almost no older relatives left. Not to be morbid, but it feels like my turn is coming, as fewer and fewer relatives stand between me and the grim reaper. Spooky season indeed.

My aunt wrote last week to let me know my Uncle Ray, who'd outlived cancer 3x before, had an aggressive cancer, spread from his leg. We decided to go to north NJ to visit on Saturday and, while he wasn't doing well & moved to hospice while we were there, it came as a shock to hear he'd died this AM.

I've written to half of City Council, the Mayor, the Governor, my State Rep and Senator, my Congressman, Drexel's president, and the new head of the Academy of Nat Sci. I've only received a few responses, but all of them have been holding out hope for keeping the museum open.

Earlier today, I ended up having to do a 3-point turn in a narrow street and go back the way I came because a cybertruck driver was refusing to pull over and let an oncoming car pass, which would have let everyone move, including the cybertruck driver himself (and, of course, it was a *him*self). 🙄

This is why I don't generally watch sports, except today I was stuck at a bar while my wife was at choir practice and got sucked in. The Eagles should have had that wrapped up long before the last seconds of the game. I'm glad my blood pressure meds are effective. That said, Go Birds! 🦅

I really don't understand Sheeran and Pink carrying water for genocide. Sheeran holds the cards here and, with a net worth of $400M, hardly needs the revenue. He could have told Robert Kraft to go fuck himself and just canceled his concert rather set a bad precedent by acquiescing to bullying.

I can't make this, though I'll be there in spirit. But if you have a free hour on Tuesday morning at 10am, show up and let the powers-that-be know that the museum must not and cannot be closed.

This cannot be allowed to happen. Philly deserves a natural history museum. If Drexel is too much of a shitshow to run one, then the city (with partners) should take it over. Museums are a public trust, and there is an obligation to maintain that. www.inquirer.com/education/ac...

The Academy of Natural Sciences is closing its museum after nearly two centuries
The closure does not affect the rest of the institution, which builds and maintains the collections and conducts research through departments such as the Patrick Center for Environmental Research.

It's always a bit unnerving when the pharmacy switches the manufacturer for your generic prescription, and you open the new bottle, and the pills are a different size with a different code imprinted on them. But they check out as the same drug and dose. My pharmacist isn't trying to kill me.
