As Trump goblins these guys plans will be about letting red diesel users dazzle free.

It's not really a "reform" as I understand it. The 2.5% is irrelevant in inflation Britain, so he presumably has the choice between making it an annual running sore decision or pegging it to wages or inflation.

We're constantly told that Donald Trump is playing three dimensional chess when, instead, he's just trying to play demential go-fish.

Odd then to see Burnham wasting his political capital by drawing comparisons with his fight for Everton when they were accused.

There is ZERO EVIDENCE the USA had anything to do with it yet Donald Trump's actually taking a victory lap for the Fairford arrests. HERE'S THE TRUTH BECAUSE IT MATTERS: UK police got a phone call at 12:45am about three suspicious vans heading toward RAF Fairford. Armed officers responded.

Trump clearly saw the Fairford story developing and decided to fabricate a story with him at the centre. That's worrying enough, but watching politicians on both sides of the Atlantic indulge his fantasy is even even worse.

It's all very well waking up but a failed empire has no need for a coaling station. Hand it to the USA if they're so keen.

People talk of AI as a thing in itself. Regulators should be focussed on ensuring legal remedies will punish or close the companies that are responsible for whichever systems do cause harm. The reports of companies AI agents hacking other companies and just saying sorry are frankly farcical.

As you know, it wasn't meant to be "fair" in the sense of "from each according to their means" it was meant to be less unfair than the poll tax without going back to the rates. The mansion tax seems to cycle back to the rates but in a confusing way where the money will be shipped off north.

The idea is to flatter the big baby without anything actually happening - like the Board of Peace that does nothing. Keeping him quiet till he goes or seizes lifetime power.

Simon Broadley @sjbof.uk · 19/09/2026
It's hard to find what the Danes think they are agreeing but presumably they are happy enough and Trump's version is his own fantasy or what the baby minders have spoon fed him to stop him having a tantrum. When Kushner does this for his failed negotiations it's much more damaging for the world.

An expensive channel only his supporters watch; it's the coverage the BBC gives him to normal people that hurts.

Simon Broadley @sjbof.uk · 18/09/2026
The less coverage of his vulgar stunts and ravings the better. Let's hope he bans BBC and Sky but they're probably too subservient to be outcast.

I don't actually believe they didn't know this. It's just social media massively incentivises parties to kick off at out of context headline stories as basically no one will ever bother looking up the context and it leans on certain voter's priors.

As predicted, unions are going to be kicking themselves for opposing a donation cap. There is no way they can compete with this. One guy, giving more than 16x what the three biggest unions gave Labour over the past year, in one go. They don't stand a chance.

Hospital wards across the country reached unbearable and dangerous temperatures over the summer. As part of a much bigger backlog of repairs for Winchester Hospital, we need to ensure that aircon and temperature regulation is in place to manage infection and keep patients and stafe safe.
