Discovery of the year: Austrian film museum in Vienna hosts Amos Vogel Library with about 8000 books & journals. And my friends knows librarian who hosts it. Amos disrupted societal taboos opposed on viewer. He radicalised screen instead of complying with a manipulated audience.

Emotional internet is a part of self-help phenomenon [see Atomic Habits book]. Where consumerism & online behaviour are linked with "habit formation" The Behavioural architects: "using the latest models to deconstruct how habits are formed and to identify how to drive behaviour change".

For some years Google collabs with The Behavioural Architects agency specialises in "Behavioural Science". Their goal is to "change behaviour - such as nudging and steering behaviour". Where consumerism turns into a strong emotional affinity with brands you don't need, peers you don't know.

Emotions turns into a battlefield of many industries: self-help, pharma, wellbeing, media, advertising, political pr, entertainment, hospitality. Poor people and techy midd-class mixed in a spectacle of emotional consumerism. As if you can buy salvation online. With a blue pill of a cat photo.

Emotional internet feeds on traumas and insecurities. It applies performance metrics x dopamine kicks x emotional state online. Influencers produce strong "positive" emotions, reassuring that better version of life is possible - you can buy it any time. AirBnb calls it "experiences".

Media enter our emotional realm as a companion spieces. Doomscrolling became a post-covid norm. Where we migrate from desperate state [invasion of Ukraine] to emotional fatique [Netflix series]. Hollywood "dream factory" moved online, turned into a micro-content to trigger emotions 24/7.

Terapeutic society brought psychology into PR campaigns. Digital managers manipulate humans by using populist spectacle. I keep seeing people who think it's the end of the world. World War 3, doomed democracy, you name it. Again, strong emotional reaction to the internet noise.

Emotional internet reflects in a populist social media phenomenon. Neverending internet fights with "unknown avatars". And trust in social media "comments". Strong emotional reaction makes us believe that socials & their "breaking" causes are real. Manifested on top of our fragile beings.

I'm interested in Emotional internet. My former industry [advertising agencies] supercharges surveillance capitalism by abusing behavioral biases. Putting psychological patterns in the center of digital comms. Moreover, missinformation agents focus on a strong emotions to trigger actions.

Pure wonder. I think we underrestimate how emotions are manipulated online by so many different actors. From surveillance business models to misinformation agents. While people keep believing that their emotions are genuine.
