Can’t believe this has become an exciting sighting for me. They had all but disappeared here because of a virus. But they seem to be making a comeback. I can hear one ‘clucking’ right now. A reminder not to take any one species for granted, even when the animal or plant seems common and robust!

I always thought snowdrops were called that because they pushed through the snow and would flower even when it was still cold and wintry. But if that’s the case, why drop and not push or peek? (Snowpush or snowpeek?!) So now I wonder if they’re called that because they look like a drop of snow?

Human art and nature art. Mostly I am in awe of nature and its wondrous delicate perfection, variety and the instant calm it gives me, but sometimes human-made art does the same.That someone spent the time sorting the pebbles, then putting them together so others could enjoy it. Lovely.
